CES is not so much an auto event – barring some automotive tech demonstrations – but that hasn’t been a deterrent for AeroHT. It has been setting Las Vegas in top gear with the showcase of its two-part flying car for two years now. The marketable combo of a land vehicle and eVTOL aircraft from AeroHT we first saw last year at CES was slated to ship in the US in mid-2024. The aviation wing of the Chinese automaker XPeng may be running behind schedule, but its arrival at CES 2025 with the news that it has 3,000 intent orders for the vehicle, we are positive it will pull off production within a year.

Dubbed the Land Aircraft Carrier, AeroHT eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) flying car is designed and developed to be a “modular flying car”: It is not a single vehicle that would take off from the spot when you’re stuck in a traffic snarl. It’s actually an electric van with a small folding eVTOL vehicle hiding in the trunk that unfolds and takes off at the push of a button.

Designer: AeroHT

The mother unit – comprising the all-electric car and the manned drone – is a five-seater land cruiser that can drive like a normal car on the road. And when you want to skip the road, or reach a destination quicker, you can head back to the two-seater air module (the eVTOL aircraft) from the rear hatch – detach and unfold it – and take off into the skies sitting relaxed in its cockpit made of carbon fiber.

So, you do not require a large expensive hangar. Aero HT’s Land Aircraft Carrier will allow you to drive and – at will – transfer into the eVTOL to take off. After the fun in the sky, when you have reached your destination, land vertically without a runway, and the air module will reconnect with the 6×6 all-wheel-drive vehicle in the trunk. You can power on the engine and go!

The mother unit of the Land Aircraft Carrier works as a mobile charging station for the eVTOL, which is powered by a silicon carbide high-voltage platform. The air module has a dual-duct six-rotor design comprising foldable propellers and arms, and combined with the land vehicle it offers a range of over 621 miles.

We have learned about the new timelines of the Land Aircraft Carrier, which according to AeroHT is likely to go into production in 2025 with shipping expected to start in 2026. The timeline is vague and we might only be guessing when we can drive and fly out of the same vehicle, but now we have a figure we should be targeting to save to realize this dream: $300,000!

Honda has unveiled their new-age EVs under the Zero Series (paying homage to ASIMO robot) – one being a mid-sized SUV and the other a wedged Saloon, at CES 2025. These electric cars are heavily emphasized with the theme “thin, light, and wise.” To this accord the interior cabin space has been increased, the outside view unrestricted, and the seating flexibility position opening up many use-case scenarios. The cars will have Level 3 autonomy promising a laidback travel experience for riders.

Dubbed “0 SUV” based on the in-house Space Hub Concept and 0 Saloon based on the Saloon concept, both these vehicles caught a lot of attention at CES 2025. They are all set for release for the North American market in 2026 and will come with the latest Asimo operating system, pushing the Honda vehicles into the next generation. The 0 Series has a peculiar Aston Martin Lagonda Shooting Brake vibe which could indeed have some inspiration for the two concepts.

Designer: Honda

The concept prototypes showcased at the event looked more design-focused without being too impractical. 0 Saloon, the flagship model, was revealed first, and impressed with the sporty styling and low ride height. Compared to the Saloon concept it comes minus the gull-winged doors, having just the normal ones. Those headlights blink open much like the Lamborghini Countach which adds a nostalgic touch to the design. When the doors open, the yoke steering automatically rotates to one side so that the driver has no problem sliding in. The dash-sized screen on both cars is similar to the Afeela concept revealed earlier at the event.

0 SUV on the other hand looks more like a production-ready version and most probably will be the first one to roll off the production lines. The performance vehicle will rival Tesla’s big boy and it’ll be interesting to see how this market segment competes in the future. It’ll make use of the company’s inherent robotic technologies to enable dynamic riding tech to drive on any kind of road surface. On top of this, the vehicle will employ high-precision attitude estimation and stabilization control.

Want to travel around the block more conveniently without leaving a significant carbon footprint or traffic chaos? Personal mobility is the answer, and we’ve seen numerous startups and established manufacturers hop on to the idea to come up with their version.

Now, Singapore-based technology company Strutt has caught attention at CES 2025 for their practical electric vehicle dubbed ev1 targeted towards independent living. According to Tony Hong, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, “Our vision is to reimagine what a mobility device can be.” It’s not just about moving forward, rather it is about helping the masses with a solution that helps reduce every stress so that you can focus on important things in life.

Designer: Strutt

The ev1 mobility vehicle is distinct from the crowd because of its array of 3D LiADAR sensors and smart algorithm that creates a dynamic real-time map of the environment to facilitate smooth navigation through tight spaces or crowded streets. This is the same technology used in autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicles. It comes with the Strutt Smart Wheel system for superior comfort and control and features a beefy quad motor setup, intelligent drivetrain, and active all-terrain wheels. Thus, the micromobility vehicle has good torque for riding on challenging terrain. Added to the mix is an integrated suspension system and good ground clearance for stability and comfort. ev1 gets a sizable LFP battery configuration which is better than Li-ion batteries since they don’t catch fire and are long lasting.

The PMV has three modes for traveling in the city – Drive, Support and Glide. The Drive mode is for complete manual control, while the Support mode lets you control the drive, speed and direction via a joystick. Semi-autonomous control is provided with speed and brake assist to avoid any abrupt obstructions that you might miss. This is a basic safety feature in the personal mobility vehicle. Then there is the Glide mode that brings an elevated level of assist by enabling continuous adjustment of speed and direction. In this mode, the 3D path is plotted of the complex environment, and is well-suited for individuals who have some kind of disability. Basically, you can free yourself and let the vehicle do the driving for you!

Segway is well known for its self-balancing micro-mobility commuters but now they are expanding their claws into the e-bike segment too. At Consumer Electronics Show 2025 the company introduced two new e-bikes that are up for pre-order right away with deliveries expected in February. Christened the Xyber and the Xafari, both electric bikes designed to elevate the riding experience with safer, more convenient, and accessible features.

The bikes will come loaded with the Segway Intelligent Ride System and a range of smart tech and features. They’ll automatically shut down AirLock tech in case of theft, and the intelligent lighting system and even fitness data will be synchronized to the accompanying app. Also, the IOT features for remotely controlling the bikes, over-the-air updates and an automatic brightness adjustable TFT display make them a futureproof option.

Designer: Segway

Xyber is the beefier of the duo with design and performance aesthetics fit for the Cyberpunk universe. The e-bike comes with a 6,000-watt direct-drive motor system touting 175 Nm torque that makes it go from zero to 20 mph in a mere 2.7 seconds. The top speed of 35 mph makes it ideal for riders who crave a lasting adrenalin rush from an e-bike. The motocross-styled bike is going to be as good for dirt trails as it will be for the city thanks to the multi-surface 20 x 5.0-inch rugged terrain tires that are secured against any punctures courtesy of the flat-resistant inserts.

Segway brings the two-wheeler with an optional 2,880Wh dual battery for a range of 112 miles or a single battery that can tick 56 miles on a single charge. In case you run out of battery power there are pedals with 12 levels of assist. The version showcased at the event is in the unclassified segment (not street legal) but the buyable version coming later in spring/early summer 2025 will conform to Class-2 mandates. Xyber will be available in three drive modes – Eco, Sport, and Race – for a price tag of $3,000.

The Xafari is a little toned-down model for urban use with classic cruiser vibes, make no mistake, it still can traverse inhospitable terrain like its big brother. This e-bike comes with an adjustable 2.5 TFT display, seat height, stem, and handlebar for every rider’s comfort, no matter how tall or short they are. It rides on 26 x 3-inch tires and has an adjustable preload suspension with compression dampening and lockout on the fork.

The bike goes from zero to 20 miles per hour in 5.2 seconds which is good enough for city traffic. Xafari gets a removable 936 Kw battery that can be charged at home and on full charge it has a range of 88 miles. City errands are going to be a breeze with the rear-mounted rack and in-frame hardshell. There are also softshell bags for storing groceries or anything else on the go. Xafari coming in three drive settings will have pedal assist and throttle mode only. It is priced at $2,400, with availability set around the same time as Xyber.

Sony, in collaboration with Honda, has been working on an electric vehicle for five years now, and finally, at CES 2025, the car has a release date. Afeela 1 appeared a couple of years ago as a prototype (codenamed VISION-S) and now at the mega event the close-to-production-ready model has made its first appearance.

Sony Honda Mobility has also revealed that the electric sedan is up for pre-order for residents of California with a refundable reservation fee of $200 and a release date in mid-2026. The EV will come in two variants – Origin and Signature – priced at $89,000 and $102,900 respectively. It will come with a 91-kilowatt-hour battery promising a total range of 300 miles and capable of fast charging via the 150 kW DC socket. The main highlight is a three-year subscription to in-car features like LiDAR-assisted Level 2+ autonomy and AI-powered personal assistant. This makes it capable of self-parking by identifying empty spots in parking.

Designer: Sony Honda Mobility

Afeela 1 is dotted with a panorama of displays on the dashboard and built-in PlayStation 5 to get gaming when you are parked waiting for someone, having nothing to do. The car can be piloted using the PS5 Dual Sense controller and even voice command via the Afeela Personality Agent. The personal assistant can be interacted with from inside or even outside the car which is a great feature to go with semi-autonomy. At some point in the future, the user will be simply able to hop in the car and then command it to go to any destination. The expansive dashboard is powered by the Unreal Engine game engine to display the main interface as well as the maps and driver aid systems. Sony is using an Active Noise Cancellation setup to make the cabin go as quiet as it could be, even when the outside world is noisy as hell.

The four-seater sedan comes with a dual rear-seat entertainment system and matching futuristic interiors. Afeela 1 rides on 21-inch wheels and is all set to roll off the manufacturing lines next year in Tidal Gray, Calm White, and Core Black colorways for the exterior and interior.

While CES 2025 is going to be all the rage, Toyota on the other face of the planet is going to set the Tokyo Auto Salon ablaze with its upcoming concept. This is the RAV4 “Dark Side Performance” concept all set to make a bold appearance at the auto show. The Japanese automotive giant wants to have a renewed outlook for the popular SUV with this remake, taking a detour from the rugged nature of the vehicle.

Toyota is poised to explore the limits of design and innovation with this futuristic concept vehicle still shrouded in mystery. The alternate identity for the SUV is as unique as its namesake: the “Dark Side Performance” and Toyota is taking an out-of-the-box aggressive approach with the aesthetics as seen in the teaser trailer.

Designer: Toyota

The street-focused concept can be seen draped in large fender flares, angular intakes, and a cool lighting system surrounding the closed-off grille to hone the sci-fi element. In the teaser reveal, Toyota shows a different side of the RAV4, and that is very much evident from the sharp exteriors. We are certain, the interiors will carry even more of that futuristic vibe, as the automaker in a press release said, “It recreates the mobility that appears in the world of science fiction such as movies, anime, and games in the real world.”

Toyota has a few off-road targeted versions of the SUV, but it’s the first one ever to have street-focused performance elements. Expect the ride to have tons of torque for quick acceleration from a standing start and enhanced traction control with ABS and stability control that’ll excite street racers. Will it be able to hold its ground against the highly tuned performance racers from acclaimed tuning shops around the world? Only time will tell.

It is safe to assume that the vehicle will be an electric trim or at least a hybrid version. In addition to this reveal, Toyota also disclosed the presence of an Outdoor Lifestyle Package for the RAV4. Based on the promo shot it is clear, that the package has unique graphics on the front, roof rack, all-terrain tires and fender flares. That means, even if the mysterious RAV4 Dark Side Performance never makes it past the concept stage into production, the package will keep outdoorsy enthusiasts interested in the SUV.

Both the RAV4 Dark Side Performance and Outdoor Lifestyle Package will be on show at the Tokyo Auto Salon from January 10 at the Makuhari Messe Convention Center.

This Jaguar + Cybertruck Mashup Honestly Looks Gorgeous

]]>

A little over a month back, Jaguar gambled on pretty much any goodwill it had among its customer base with a rather odd rebrand. Not only did the company cease production of all existing cars in 2024, they decided to do a hard pivot to EVs with a rebranding that was less about automobiles and more haute fashion and edgy visuals.

When Jaguar finally debuted the Type 00 concept, it looked like something out of the Cybertruck playbook – sharp lines, low-poly design, minimal but expressive enough to garner an opinion. So designer Joe Slatter just decided to mash them together in the automotive equivalent of pen-pineapple-apple-pen… Remember that song? It’s now 9 years old.

Designer: Joe Slatter

“This project explores what a collaboration between Jaguar’s Type 00 and Tesla’s Cybertruck could look like if they joined forces. Both designs have been among the most talked-about in the automotive industry over the past five years,” Slatter mentions. “The result is the Jaguar Cybertruck concept, an electric pickup truck, combining Jaguar’s new visual direction with Tesla’s bold futurism.”

The resulting car sort of blurs lines between a luxury sedan and a pickup truck. To be honest, there’s nothing pickup truck about this car when you look at it, but there’s a fully accessible rear truck-bed at the back. The car looks effortlessly futuristic, with sharp lines that aren’t shy to show off curves in some places. The front and back are both curved, as opposed to the edgy straight angular lines on the Cybertruck, and the front and rear fenders are just mildly protruding with 3D curves around the wheels, giving the car character.

The Cybertruck looks the way it does only because of the reinforced steel plates it uses in its construction. Some would argue that low-poly half-rendered aesthetic is a small price to pay for incredible durability (it apparently even resisted bombing recently), but what Jaguar achieved with the Type 00 was basically a visual refinement of Cybertruck’s aesthetic. What Jaguar did was great if observed independently, but to throw away a great heritage legacy for that rebrand was a strange move.

For Slatter, this collab/mashup is purely about counterculture. Jaguar and Tesla both wanted to shake up the industry, so combining their design aesthetics and efforts just felt like a natural thing to do. Slatter even pasted the Cybertruck logo on top of Jaguar’s branding, making it almost look like graffiti over the boring wannabe-edgy neo-corporate rebranding of Jaguar.

Is the Jaguar Cybertruck a gorgeous car? Again, when observed in a silo, yes it is. It has enough character over the original Cybertruck to get my thumbs-up, so to speak. Would I personally ever drive such a car? Probably not – I’m a diehard retro automobile lover and I’d probably choose something vintage-inspired over something hyper-futuristic… but then again, that’s just me. What do you think?

More often than not, technology is not merely a tool but also a medium for expression. No wonder, themed and limited edition gadgets attract so much attention from demanding geeks. Gamification is the new trend that brings the best of both worlds and makes your boring accessories filled with a refreshing function that actually gets you to perform the intended action for a better lifestyle.

This electric bike concept envisioned for mobilitylabs.ai wants to cash in on the trend, transforming your every ride in the city into a gamified experience. The idea is to empower your daily commuter as a medium to engage with the outside world creatively.

Designer: Evgeniy Vakulich

Dubbed TRONTENDO (an amalgam of Tron and Nintendo) the e-bike has built-in interactive elements including gamified riding mechanics and charge level indicators adapted from game HUDs. In particular, the Nintendo’s retro and current line-up of titles. Evgeniy sees every bike rider as the hero of their digital universe, and the bike is a projection of that sentiment with an appealing retro-futuristic vibe. It is a peppy creation that bridges the gap between the past, present, and the future. More than that, the electric bike reflects the commitment towards minimalism, functionality, and emotional engagement. To its core, the unique motorcycle design is a visually appealing synergy between the digital aesthetics of the Tron bike and the playful innovation of Nintendo.

The clean lines, sharp contours, and bold color blocks are the true emulation of the retro Nintendo consoles in their glorious evolution. Combine those eye-popping pixelated graphics with the sleek, modern form of a two-wheeler that the young generation would fancy as their mode of expression, is guaranteed to grab attention. The designer has mixed the visual elements of the Nintendo color themes with the digital display, HUD and vital indicator elements. Imagine riding this thing to your daily commute (especially in the dark hours) with all the gamified elements coming to life. On-lookers would give this thing more than just a glance!

Just hearing the word “camping” brings some sort of dread to me as this kind of adventure is definitely not for me. For one, I need a proper bathroom and also I’m a slave to my creature comforts over a fantastic view of the outdoors. But over the years, glamping and luxury RV living have become a trend for people like me who cannot live without what hotels normally bring.

Designer: RollAway Hospitality

One such company that is offering a luxurious RV suite is RollAWay Hospitality. They’ve converted the Brighdrop Zevo 600, an electric truck meant for the delivery market, into a for-hire electric RV that you can bring around to California’s coasts and National Parks. The 600 cubic feet of space inside the vehicle has become a “suite on wheels” and have even partnered with wellness brands to make it more luxurious.

The RollAway camper has wood-lined interiors, a bed for two that can be turned into a dining and living room area, a kitchen and a full sized shower as well. It’s complete with air conditioning, solar paneled rooftop, and even amenities from Malin+Goetz toiletries and camping gear from Yeti. Even breakfast materials will be provided by local sustainable farms. It also comes with a Starlink Satellite Wi-Fi and a dedicated hospitality app to take care of other housekeeping needs.

Obviously, this luxury suite on wheels will cost you a pretty penny. But if you have the budget for it and you would like to experience aesthetic “RV living” but with creature comforts for a day or so, then this will probably be an option for you. Or you can just pitch a tent in a national park with a beautiful backdrop, but that’s another thing altogether.
