Hisense is pushing big-screen boundaries again at CES 2025, building on the momentum from its impressive showings in prior years. In 2024, the manufacturer highlighted its NBA Championship Edition TV with groundbreaking brightness and numerous dimming zones, setting a high bar for this year’s lineup. That much is clear from its focus on Mini LED, Micro LED, AI-driven advancements, and updated audio systems. The brand has poured years into expanding its presence in the ultra-large screen category, and it’s moving forward with a level of determination that continues to intensify its position among the top premium TV makers. The new series spans from an RGB Local Dimming behemoth measuring 116 inches—known officially as the 116UX—to a massive Micro LED at 136 inches called the 136MX to an upgraded ultra-short-throw laser projector that can stretch from 100 inches up to 150 inches. Alongside these, Hisense is rolling out a new wireless home theater system designed to match bright visuals and bold contrast with equally immersive audio. Each device is built on deeper chipset integration and AI-driven enhancements, a stance that places the brand in a prime spot to challenge well-established rivals.

Designer: Hisense

Hisense’s 2024 growth numbers underscore why it steps into 2025 with such confidence. People inside the organization point to expanded color accuracy and AI upscaling as core factors in its recent jump to the number two global share position for premium TV. That progression came after surpassing brands like Samsung and LG; its presence in the US market for screens 87 inches and larger soared as well. That focus on big sizes has been a constant for Hisense, with a 150% year-over-year increase in unit share for 75-inch sets. While countless companies stick with the typical 55- or 65-inch range, Hisense has made an aggressive leap toward screens that let a home theater dominate the entire room. Its argument is that it can offer more accessible routes to advanced display technologies, unlike competitors that reserve such innovations for their most exclusive products.

Beyond pushing size boundaries, Hisense is heightening brightness across its new displays. With a peak luminance of 10,000 nits, the flagship models show the brand’s commitment to HDR performance. Reaching those brightness levels, even if briefly for highlights, requires advanced backlighting. That’s where the company insists it’s differentiating itself. In 2024, Hisense released a 110-inch “NBA Championship Edition” that achieved 10,000 nits and 40,000 dimming zones. Now, in 2025, the brand is taking Mini LED another step forward with an RGB backlight containing tens of thousands of miniaturized LEDs. Rather than stick with the usual white or blue LED approach, each module packs red, green, and blue chips inside an optical lens. Hisense says this approach increases color control and reduces harmful blue light output.

The 116-inch ULED with TriChroma LED Technology

The 116UX, which is the manufacturer’s official name for its 116-inch TriChroma LED TV, stands as a bold achievement in RGB Local Dimming Technology. It’s the only consumer TV on the market with this approach, and Hisense claims it covers about 97% of the BT.2020 color space. Unlike traditional Mini LED systems that rely on filtered white or blue backlights, RGB Local Dimming units use separate red, green, and blue diodes to generate color directly. This results in richer reds, deeper greens, and vibrant blues without the brightness loss that conventional filters can introduce.

Tens of thousands of these RGB optical lenses operate as independently controlled clusters, handling multi-level dimming at both the LED and cluster levels. This design supports brightness accuracy and color reproduction while reducing blooming. By generating color directly, the television avoids the efficiency issues often tied to filtered systems, delivering a peak brightness of up to 10,000 nits. It also reduces harmful blue light by nearly 40%, making longer viewing sessions more comfortable.

Driving these feats is the Hi-View AI Engine X, which analyzes each frame through AI-driven features like AI Peak Brightness, AI RGB Local Dimming, and AI Banding Smoother. This platform makes real-time adjustments to contrast, brightness, and color, bringing lifelike depth to every scene. Audio gets a boost from a 6.2.2 channel surround system that includes Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual X. AI Sound Optimization tailors the audio on the fly, so dialogue stands out and effects fill the room.

The 116UX also includes an ultra-low glare panel and low-reflection engineering, giving a sharp image even when ambient light creeps in. The wide viewing angle keeps color and detail consistent from every seat. At under 40 mm thick, it remains relatively sleek despite its huge footprint. This model ships with Google TV, so streaming apps and voice-activated controls are built right in. Owners can use Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple HomeKit for further smart home integration. The set also supports IMAX Enhanced modes, giving home cinema buffs extra flexibility for specialized content.

A major theme for Hisense is “mini LED excellence.” Over the last year, the brand has rolled out Mini LED across its flagship models and plans to keep expanding. Company figures show that this approach has already helped it grab a huge share of the large-screen market. While many manufacturers treat Mini LED as a pricey add-on, Hisense believes it can push it at broader price levels. The 116UX is a prime example of that direction.

The 136-inch Micro LED

Side by side with the 116UX, Hisense is unveiling a 136MX Micro LED that takes self-emissive technology even bigger. Micro LED’s core idea is that each pixel is made of microscopic red, green, and blue clusters. The 136MX uses over 24.88 million sub-LEDs in total to create 4K resolution with perfect black levels and minimal halo effects. This approach avoids the burn-in risk seen in OLED, and it can reach 10,000 nits, just like top LCD-based HDR sets.

Hisense also specifies that the 136MX achieves a contrast ratio near a million to one, partly due to a special nano-crystal black coating on each panel segment. Reflectivity is much lower than what standard LCD or glass-based displays encounter, so the picture stays clear even in bright conditions. According to the manufacturer, color coverage is around 95% of BT.2020. This set relies on the same Hi-View AI Engine X platform for pixel-level adjustments, analyzing each scene to enhance clarity and color transitions. Because the 136MX is self-emissive and inorganic, the brand sees it as a durable alternative to OLED. While cost has long been an obstacle, Hisense is investing in manufacturing and vertical integration to find ways of narrowing that gap. Unlike the 116UX, the 136-inch model runs on the VIDAA OS platform, which is the company’s in-house interface.

The L9 Cube TriChroma Laser TV

Not everyone wants a 100-plus-inch panel, so Hisense is covering another angle with the L9 Cube TriChroma Laser TV that can go from 100 inches up to 150 inches. This new model adds flexible focus, making it easier to match the displayed size to your space. The brand provides ALR screens at multiple diagonals, giving the owner a range of options. The L9 Cube’s brightness can reach 5,000 lumens, around 33% higher than last year’s version, and contrast is up to about 3,000:1. The triple-laser engine covers 110% of BT 2020, and it uses an automatic alignment process once the screen is mounted, taking much of the hassle out of calibration.

The audio has been upgraded to a 6.2.2 channel system that puts out more than 116 watts, tuned by Harman Kardon for a broader theater-like experience. Because of its ultra-short-throw design, the projector can sit close to the wall, producing a massive image without swallowing your living room. Like many of Hisense’s premium releases, this model comes with Google TV. People who want a projector but don’t want typical clutter or fuss might find it appealing.

The HT Saturn Wireless Home Theater Audio System

If the integrated audio in the L9 Cube or in the giant TVs isn’t enough, Hisense has a new wireless speaker system named HT Saturn. It consists of four speakers and a subwoofer that all connect wirelessly to the TV via a small central hub. Each speaker only needs power, so you don’t need to run wires under carpets or through walls. Once they’re in place, the system emits tones and calibrates for your seating arrangement. Dolby Atmos and DTS-X support places sounds above or behind you, and the brand includes a feature called Hi-Concerto to merge the TV’s built-in drivers with the HT Saturn. This approach can widen the overall soundstage, especially if the television includes additional speakers.

Hisense sees a strong market for an easy-to-set-up, multi-channel audio solution that doesn’t require extensive home installation. The HT Saturn system seems like a logical partner for either the 116UX, 136MX, or even the L9 Cube. It’s a way to move beyond soundbars without resorting to old-school wiring or external receivers.

Vertical Integration and the Hi-View AI Engine

Hisense’s drive toward deeper vertical integration continues in 2025. The company now offers three tiers of its chipset technology—Hi-View AI Engine, Hi-View AI Engine Pro, and Hi-View AI Engine X—and the top-tier version powers its premium sets. This integration fuels faster, more capable processing for local dimming, motion smoothing, upscaling, and AI-driven color enhancements. The brand points out small performance gains of around 1.4% to 2.2% in CPU, GPU, and neural processing this year. Even if that sounds minor, the company says those improvements help with minute on-the-fly adjustments that keep fast-paced scenes looking sharp. AI features under the Hi-View umbrella handle picture, sound, scenario detection, and energy management.

Face recognition algorithms keep skin tones from looking unnatural while banding smoother eliminates streaks in gradients. Noise reduction is handled separately to minimize streaming artifacts while retaining detail. On the audio side, AI Sound lifts voices above the background noise and adjusts EQ for a more balanced output. Game modes reduce latency and tweak brightness or shadow detail to help players spot what’s lurking in dark corners. AI Energy reads ambient lighting and dims the backlight where possible, saving power and easing eye fatigue.

Hisense sees this AI integration as a big step because it simplifies operations. Instead of burying menus, the sets adapt automatically. Another new feature is “Customized Picture Mode,” which shows you a series of images and asks which you prefer. The TV then determines your color and brightness preferences and applies them. Less fussing with manual settings might appeal to mainstream viewers.

Design, Setup, and Audio Ecosystem

Hisense is mindful that a 116-inch or 136-inch display can dominate a space. The 116UX has been slimmed to under 40 mm thick. The Micro LED panels skip extra glass layers, which cuts reflection. The L9 Cube appeals to those who prefer a projector in a low console instead of a massive black rectangle on the wall. Every set includes some version of a built-in streaming platform, but the 116UX and L9 run on Google TV, while the 136MX relies on VIDAA OS. Either way, Netflix, YouTube, and Disney+ come preloaded.

The manufacturer hasn’t forgotten about sound. The big 116-inch TriChroma includes a robust 6.2.2 channel setup, while the L9 Cube’s internal system has expanded power output. The new HT Saturn system goes further for those who want a bigger soundstage without permanent wiring. It wirelessly coordinates four satellites and a sub, then integrates them with the TV. Each speaker is measured with a calibration tone so the system can adjust levels and timing automatically.

A Deeper Look at AI Upgrades

Hisense insists it’s doing more than tossing in marketing buzzwords. AI-based backlight control, local dimming, and color smoothing rely on real-time machine learning, scanning each scene and each cluster of LEDs or pixels. Faces get an extra pass for skin tone accuracy and detail. Color banding in skies or water scenes is smoothed out, and compression artifacts common on streaming platforms are minimized, though not entirely erased. Motion smoothing blends with black frame insertion for those who want an extra-fluid look, and the television can dial that down if you switch to Filmmaker Mode.

The same approach applies to AI audio, scanning the audio feed to pick out dialogue and separate it from background noise or intense music. The brand’s gaming features make adjustments for latency, brightness, and color profiles. AI Energy tracks ambient light so the set can keep HDR brightness when necessary but conserve power when scenes or rooms go darker.

Implications for the TV Market

Hisense doesn’t hide its premium ambitions. Its jump from 14% to 24% of the global premium TV market over the past year shows the payoff of its broad-based Mini LED strategy. By covering Mini LED, Micro LED, and laser projection, the brand aims to attract a broad range of big-screen enthusiasts. Now it adds a multi-channel wireless audio system, tying together the whole home cinema picture. If it can keep costs below rivals, the new lineup might reshape consumer expectations for large-format TVs.

Still, distributing displays 100 inches or larger isn’t simple. Hisense must handle advanced manufacturing and complex shipping logistics. Competition with established high-end names will be intense, and image critics may question motion, black levels, color uniformity, and build quality. The company, though, hopes its vertical integration—especially in chip design and backlight engineering—gives it an edge. It’s gambling that simpler user experiences and AI-driven refinements will satisfy even demanding buyers.

Looking Past CES

CES 2025 is the grand stage for these show-stopping introductions, but the real challenge comes once the final prices hit the market. The 116UX might disrupt the segment if it matches or beats the cost of smaller OLED sets. The 136MX could raise the bar for self-emissive displays, assuming Hisense reins in the typical Micro LED price premium. The L9 Cube depends on how well the auto-calibration features adjust to average living rooms and whether viewers embrace a short-throw system over a traditional TV. If the HT Saturn setup truly delivers easy, immersive audio without cable clutter, it might attract those who’ve been stuck with soundbars.

Hisense’s unified Hi-View AI Engine and expanded wireless features shape a more interconnected 2025 product line. Tighter integration should enable better reliability and smoother updates across different models. With a solid year behind it, the brand seems positioned to continue its rise. Whether that path leads to more aggressive pricing or alternative sizing options remains to be seen. For now, at CES, Hisense is betting on bigger screens, deeper color accuracy, and user-friendly extras. If the prototypes live up to the hype in the real world, it could mark a turning point for how many people view premium home entertainment.

Just hearing the word “camping” brings some sort of dread to me as this kind of adventure is definitely not for me. For one, I need a proper bathroom and also I’m a slave to my creature comforts over a fantastic view of the outdoors. But over the years, glamping and luxury RV living have become a trend for people like me who cannot live without what hotels normally bring.

Designer: RollAway Hospitality

One such company that is offering a luxurious RV suite is RollAWay Hospitality. They’ve converted the Brighdrop Zevo 600, an electric truck meant for the delivery market, into a for-hire electric RV that you can bring around to California’s coasts and National Parks. The 600 cubic feet of space inside the vehicle has become a “suite on wheels” and have even partnered with wellness brands to make it more luxurious.

The RollAway camper has wood-lined interiors, a bed for two that can be turned into a dining and living room area, a kitchen and a full sized shower as well. It’s complete with air conditioning, solar paneled rooftop, and even amenities from Malin+Goetz toiletries and camping gear from Yeti. Even breakfast materials will be provided by local sustainable farms. It also comes with a Starlink Satellite Wi-Fi and a dedicated hospitality app to take care of other housekeeping needs.

Obviously, this luxury suite on wheels will cost you a pretty penny. But if you have the budget for it and you would like to experience aesthetic “RV living” but with creature comforts for a day or so, then this will probably be an option for you. Or you can just pitch a tent in a national park with a beautiful backdrop, but that’s another thing altogether.

At Design Miami, Infiniti unveiled the 2025 QX80, a luxury SUV that sets a new benchmark for automotive design. By merging Japanese cultural traditions with modern innovation, the QX80 exemplifies a bold vision of luxury and performance. From its commanding exterior to its meticulously crafted interior, every detail reflects Infiniti’s dedication to blending artistry with functionality.

Designer: Infiniti

Exterior Design: Bold and Dynamic

The QX80’s exterior embodies strength and sophistication, with a design inspired by elements of Japanese culture. Its signature double-arch grille takes cues from the organic forms of a bamboo forest, evoking both resilience and elegance. Flanking the grille are multi-element LED daytime running lights that further emphasize the bamboo motif, seamlessly blending natural inspiration with cutting-edge technology.

The front lighting system continues this narrative, designed to mimic the keys of a grand piano, adding a touch of musicality to the QX80’s visual identity. At the rear, a full-width LED lighting element features over 300 LEDs inspired by the shimmering reflections of light on water. This detail brings a sense of fluidity and motion to the vehicle’s bold silhouette.

Photo: Zack Fistrovich

The QX80’s long, nearly flat hood leads into crisp shoulder lines, creating an “anti-wedge” profile that projects sleek motion even when stationary. Flush door handles, which automatically present themselves upon unlocking, contribute to a clean, aerodynamic appearance, while harmonious character lines running along the profile add depth and balance to the design.

Interior Design: A Harmonious Blend of Style and Comfort

Inside, the QX80 offers a cabin designed to immerse passengers in luxury. Infiniti’s adherence to the Japanese aesthetic principle of Miyabi—emphasizing elegance and refinement—is evident throughout the interior. High-quality materials, intricate craftsmanship, and thoughtful details come together to create a space that is as durable as it is beautiful.

The use of custom-fit seat materials in the QX80 enhances its interior with a refined touch of ingenuity and practicality. Available in Graphite and Tuscan Beige, TailorFit upholstery provides a balance of comfort, durability, and longevity, ensuring the cabin remains stylish and functional even after years of use. Its inclusion alongside other premium options like semi-aniline leather underscores its luxurious nature, making it both elegant and practical for daily life. The material’s name suggests a tailored fit, adding a layer of personalization that complements the vehicle’s premium positioning. TailorFit contributes to the QX80’s interior by offering an elegant yet functional choice for occupants.

For those who seek a more traditional luxury option, semi-aniline leather upholstery is available in Graphite and Sepia Brown. Infiniti also offers quilted semi-aniline leather, which enhances the interior’s sophistication. This premium material, available in Graphite and Burgundy, features a unique dot-quilting pattern that is partially completed by hand, adding a bespoke quality to the design. This attention to detail enhances the overall refinement of the cabin, showcasing Infiniti’s commitment to craftsmanship.

The interior’s luxurious ambiance is further heightened by the use of wood trims and metal accents. Open-pore ash wood is prominently featured throughout the cabin, lending a natural warmth to the design. In higher trims, metal-inlay open-pore wood elevates the aesthetic with its intricate detailing. Laser-cut aluminum inlays provide a modern complement to these traditional materials, creating a harmonious balance of textures and finishes. The inclusion of matte and dark matte chrome accents adds subtle sophistication, blending seamlessly with the overall design.

Passenger comfort is prioritized through the thoughtful application of soft-touch materials. These are strategically layered over hard surfaces, particularly in areas where arms and elbows may rest. This approach not only enhances the tactile experience but also ensures a sense of coziness and refinement for everyone in the vehicle.

Additional premium materials, such as suede and plush fabrics, are incorporated throughout the cabin to complete the QX80’s inviting interior. These materials are used alongside leather and wood elements to create a cohesive and opulent environment. From the dashboard to the door panels and all three rows of seating, the meticulous integration of these materials ensures that every detail contributes to the vehicle’s luxurious atmosphere.

A Modern Take on Technology

The QX80 integrates advanced technology seamlessly into its luxurious interior. A dual 14.3-inch Monolith infotainment display anchors the dashboard, providing intuitive access to navigation, entertainment, and vehicle controls. Personalized ambient lighting with 64 color options lets passengers create a cabin atmosphere to suit their preferences, enhancing every journey.

Creative features like the INFINITI Light Path bring a modern interpretation of omotenashi—the Japanese principle of hospitality. This system illuminates the ground near the vehicle as passengers approach, creating a welcoming environment that sets the tone for every drive.

Aural Perfection: The Klipsch Experience

The partnership with Klipsch brings outstanding audio quality to the QX80. The Klipsch Reference Premiere Audio System includes 24 speakers, titanium tweeters, an 8-inch TriPower subwoofer, and a 1,200-watt amplifier. This setup creates an immersive auditory experience, ensuring that every drive feels like a private concert.

Even the exterior design reinforces this focus on sensory harmony. The front lighting, inspired by piano keys, complements the auditory experience by blending visual elegance with the QX80’s grand presence.

A Celebration of Japanese Culture

The 2025 Infiniti QX80 is a rolling tribute to Japanese heritage. Its bamboo-inspired grille symbolizes strength and adaptability, while its rear taillights, sculpted to reflect the grandeur of Tokyo’s skyline, celebrate the country’s modernity. The interior materials, from TailorFit upholstery to open-pore wood, echo the natural beauty and craftsmanship synonymous with Japanese design.

Every detail, from the personalized ambient lighting to the handcrafted leather upholstery, reflects Infiniti’s commitment to excellence. The QX80 is a journey through tradition, innovation, and artistry.

The Autograph Edition: Pinnacle of the QX80 Lineup

Our drive experience at Design Miami featured the 2025 Infiniti QX80 Autograph edition, which represents the pinnacle of luxury and features in the QX80 lineup. This trim level offers exclusive enhancements that set it apart from other models in the range, making it the ultimate choice for those seeking the best in style, comfort, and technology.

Photo: Zack Fistrovich

The Autograph edition’s interior showcases premium craftsmanship and advanced amenities. Quilted semi-aniline leather seats envelop all three rows, providing a sumptuous seating experience. Massaging second-row seats add an extra layer of comfort, while heated third-row seats ensure every passenger enjoys premium amenities. A front-console cooling compartment and a cabin camera for viewing rear passengers enhance practicality and convenience for daily use.

Photo:Zack Fistrovich

On the exterior, the Autograph edition is distinguished by its two-tone roof design and dark chrome exterior trim, which exude an aura of sophistication. Unique 22-inch machine-finished wheels complete the look, ensuring the Autograph edition commands attention wherever it goes.

The Autograph trim also boasts a suite of cutting-edge technologies. It comes standard with ProPILOT Assist 2.1, a hands-free driver-assist system for select highways that advances safety and convenience on long drives. A second-row touchscreen display adds a touch of modernity for passengers, while the 24-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere Audio System ensures unparalleled sound quality throughout the cabin.

This trim level delivers exceptional performance, featuring a 450-horsepower twin-turbo V6 engine paired with all-wheel drive. Advanced suspension systems ensure a smooth and controlled ride, whether navigating city streets or exploring off-road trails. With a starting MSRP of $112,590, the Autograph edition represents the epitome of luxury in the QX80 lineup, justifying its position as the top-tier model with exclusive design elements and comfort enhancements.

Driving the 2025 INFINITI QX80 Autograph Edition delivers a harmonious blend of luxury and power, as Zack Fistrovich experienced firsthand at Design Miami, where he represented Yanko Design alongside Infiniti. His encounter with the QX80 allowed him to explore its balance of craftsmanship and performance, emphasizing how its design complements the driving experience.

The QX80’s imposing size is immediately apparent, spanning 17.5 feet in length and weighing around 5,800 pounds. Its commanding presence provides a high driving position, offering excellent visibility of the road ahead. However, for those unfamiliar with full-sized SUVs, navigating its substantial dimensions can feel intimidating, especially in urban settings or tighter spaces. Surprisingly, it feels much nimbler than its size and appearance suggest, maintaining a sense of agility that enhances the driving experience.

Under the hood, the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine produces 450 horsepower, delivering brisk and responsive acceleration. The 9-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly, ensuring a refined drive whether accelerating onto highways or cruising long stretches. With an estimated 0-60 mph time of about 5.3 seconds, the QX80 feels remarkably capable for its size. It also boasts a towing capacity of up to 8,500 pounds, underscoring its practicality for those who require utility alongside sophistication.

The ride reflects its body-on-frame construction, which imparts a truck-like feel, further enhanced by the standard air suspension on all but the base trim. This setup effectively controls body motions and enhances overall comfort, though some body roll remains noticeable during cornering. Rougher pavement can result in a firmer ride, which stands out given the QX80’s otherwise smooth and composed highway demeanor. Steering, especially in tight situations like parking, requires effort, but the braking system instills confidence, managing the vehicle’s substantial weight effectively.

Photo: Zack Fistrovich

Inside the cabin, the level of refinement is notable. Road and wind noise are kept to a minimum, even at highway speeds, creating a serene environment. The engine remains impressively quiet, even under heavy acceleration, contributing to the sense of sophistication during longer drives. The overall comfort of the QX80 makes it an excellent option for extended journeys or everyday commutes.

Driver assistance features like ProPilot Assist 2.1 offer hands-free highway driving, though Zack noted that occasional intervention was necessary to maintain confidence in its operation. Forward collision warning and lane departure prevention function effectively, adding an extra layer of reassurance to the driving experience.

Zack’s time behind the wheel of the QX80 Autograph Edition at Design Miami highlighted Infiniti’s attention to detail in balancing size, performance, and luxury. While its size and weight are apparent in certain driving situations, the overall experience reflects the thoughtful design and engineering behind this flagship SUV.

The 2025 Infiniti QX80 reimagines the luxury SUV, merging timeless Japanese traditions with the demands of modern drivers. From its bold exterior to its exquisitely crafted interior, the QX80 offers a driving experience that inspires and elevates the senses. Whether navigating city streets or embarking on long journeys, the QX80 stands as a testament to Infiniti’s dedication to creating vehicles that embody beauty, strength, and innovation.

Lunar New Year 2025 is the year of the Wood Snake in the Chinese zodiac. Commonly known as the Spring Festival in China, it will fall on Wednesday, January 29, and the fifteen-day celebration will culminate on February 12, 2025. To celebrate the Year of the Snake, Longines has collaborated with Chinese artist Wu Jian’an to deliver a special edition model of its heritage marque.

The timepiece designed for the Year of the Wood Snake is based on the Longines’ Conquest Heritage line that has a classic 1950s design paired with modern watchmaking technology. The Longines celebratory limited-edition Conquest Heritage model showcased ahead of the Lunar New Year has a dazzling red front embraced with signature gilt hands and indexes, and snake artwork on the back.

Designer: Longines

Created to add a touch of horology genius and elegance to the Longines Conquest Heritage Year of the Snake Edition has been thrown into the celebratory mood with the antics of artist Wu Jian’an, who has imbibed the spirit of the serpent onto the watch’s caseback. The final design achieved showcases a ‘mystical snake with Lingzhi mushroom in its mouth,’ which according to the press information ‘symbolizes the passage of time and the continuity of life.’

The front of the watch is more subtle, nothing fancy here except for the gradient red dial that nods to the Chinese festivity’s auspicious palette. The red hue is complemented by the Conquest Heritage collection’s signature gilt hands and indexes in yellow-gold color. The watch has a round 40mm stainless steel case accompanied by scratch-resistant sapphire crystal featuring an anti-reflective coating on both sides.

Screwed-down caseback, as mentioned, is where all the fun really lies. It’s here that the artistic snake emblem reminiscent of good fortune is surrounded by the unique limited-edition number and the watch name. On the inside of the watch is a Longines in-house L888.5 calibre self-winding mechanical movement with up to 72 hours of power reserve. The Longines Conquest Heritage Year of the Snake Edition comes paired with a black alligator leather strap and is available in only 2,025 examples. The watch is now available through Longines website at $3,150.

For Hublot, innovation in material, texture, shape, and of course, some intriguing display of bling on the dial is an integral part of its watches’ designs. All-Black Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu laden with Pavé diamonds is a new example of this quest for state-of-the-art watchmaking. The timepiece, high on design and charisma is tuned to fine mechanics, and is made from materials to stand the test of time.

The latest watch from Hublot, the Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu All Black Pavé has a diamond-laden design created by tattoo artist Maxim Plescia-Buchi. Built on Hublot’s All Black concept, this amazing bling watch with its geometric patterns and distinctive 3D design is limited to only 200 models.

Designer: Hublot

The Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu All Black Pavé – despite its exclusivity – is a captivating enhancement of the iconic All Black collection that has been enthralling us fans since 2006. The new bold black watch has a 42mm polished black-plated case adorned with 180 black diamonds; totaling approximately 2.4 carats worth of diamonds. Positioned in Maxime Plescia-Buchi’s signature geometric tattoo layout, 80 of these diamonds are on the case and the rest 100 are on the polished black bezel.

The high-tech ceramic watch features a date window at the five o’clock position and three push buttons on the side for controlling the chronograph on the skeletal dial, which allows the wearer to peep through at the movement ticking beneath. It is a HUB4700 Self-winding Skeleton Chronograph movement that comprises 31 jewels and offers up to 50 hours of power reserve.

The Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu All Black Pavé will come paired with a black rubber strap or a black ceramic and titanium clasp for an asking price of £40,500 (approximately $50,700). Water resistant to 100 meters, the watch radiates with transparency and robustness in a bold black shade to win 200 hearts all at once.

I’ve always been drawn to the look of a classic stainless steel band because there’s an unmistakable feeling of substance around a metal bracelet that wraps around your wrist with a sense of presence. That’s why Apple’s Link Bracelet has been a staple in my lineup since the early days of the wearable’s launch, and with the recent introduction of three fresh colorways for the Series 10 era, I felt it was time to revisit this product in more detail. Many enthusiasts remember how this band was introduced at the same time as the original Apple Watch, and the initial reaction was a mix of admiration for its smooth metal segments and concern over its added weight. Years have passed and the Link Bracelet is still here, and that steadfast endurance makes it a top choice for anyone wanting to enhance their watch’s overall feel. I have tried several bands since, including the rubber Solo Loop for more active days, yet I always return to the stainless steel option as a dependable favorite. The only other band that comes close to matching my fondness is that rubber strap. With this new Link design, I get that almost seamless loop around my wrist, complete with a butterfly clasp that is so flush you can forget it is there.

PROS:

  • Seamless integration with Apple Watch for a cohesive look.

  • Durable brushed stainless steel resists scuffs.

  • Timeless elegance in Natural, Slate, and Gold finishes.

  • Smooth links offer comfortable all-day wear.

  • Long-lasting and compatible with new Apple Watch generations.

CONS:

  • Premium pricing may deter some buyers.

  • Weight could feel heavy for those used to lighter bands.

  • No micro-adjustment option for fine-tuning fit.

Design

Apple’s Link Bracelet is a masterpiece of design and aesthetic refinement, and its design remains one of the most compelling reasons to choose this band for your Apple Watch. At the heart of this design lies the butterfly clasp. Unlike clasps on many traditional metal bands, which often protrude and disrupt the bracelet’s continuity, Apple’s butterfly clasp is fully integrated into the chain of links. This seamless approach allows the clasp to disappear when closed, preserving the bracelet’s fluid appearance and creating a nearly infinite loop around your wrist.

Material choices play a crucial role in defining the character of the Link Bracelet. The Natural color, which I’m reviewing, offers a timeless brushed stainless steel finish that captures light in a subtle yet captivating way. It’s versatile enough to adapt to various lighting conditions—indoors, it presents as a soft matte silver with a hint of warmth, while in natural sunlight, it gleams with a slightly brighter, more polished sheen. This adaptability makes it an excellent match for the Natural Titanium Apple Watch case, maintaining a cohesive yet understated aesthetic.

For those seeking a darker, more dramatic look, the new Slate color delivers. Its titanium-like tone balances contemporary appeal with sophistication. Indoors, Slate offers a muted gunmetal hue that feels bold without being overpowering. Outdoors reveal a slightly lighter, smoky gray quality that enhances its depth and richness. It is an excellent option for pairing with darker watch cases or for making a subtle statement of contemporary style.

The Gold finish, meanwhile, is unapologetically luxurious. This color exudes a bright, attention-grabbing shimmer that appeals to those who favor bold style choices. Whether paired with a matching gold watch or used to create contrast, this finish thrives in environments with ample light, where its reflective qualities can shine.

Each link in the bracelet is meticulously crafted from stainless steel, with a brushed finish on the top surfaces and subtly polished edges. This combination enhances the bracelet’s texture and creates a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. Indoors, the brushed finish looks refined and understated, while outdoors, the polished edges catch the sunlight, adding a touch of sparkle that elevates the overall appearance.

The material choices and finishes contribute directly to the Link Bracelet’s aesthetic appeal but also its tactile experience. Each link is smooth and rounded on the underside, ensuring that the bracelet rests naturally on the wrist. The Link Bracelet’s design transitions effortlessly between dimly lit offices and sunny outdoor settings, offering both versatility and durability as an accessory for the Apple Watch.

Ergonomics

Despite the watch now being in its tenth iteration, this steel Link Bracelet has a timeless feel that has not drastically changed from the early concept. It’s always been intended as a premium option to pair with Apple’s wearable, and that concept remains intact for someone who desires a well-crafted band that complements the watch’s stainless steel or titanium case. There is a distinctive sense that it was formed in the same industrial design space that gave rise to Apple’s minimal lines and smooth edges. Each link is carefully engineered, with precise tolerances that you can see in the way they lock together. You’d think that would reduce rattling, yet I’ve noticed a slight rattle if I shake the watch vigorously. One quirk I’ve observed is an occasional squeak when operating the clasp, often when the mechanism is dirty or dusty. In daily wear, though, the clasp provides a satisfying click that feels reliable.

I’ve spent extensive time using the Link Bracelet across different Apple Watch generations, as well as exploring metal bands from other luxury brands. It can be tricky for a modern smartwatch brand to pull off a metal bracelet that stands alongside heritage watch brands, but Apple’s design language does a good job of combining sleek modern lines with a feeling of luxury. There is a comfort factor that some folks find contradictory since many assume metal means stiffness or hardness. The interesting truth is that it rests naturally on your wrist once you resize the links correctly. I prefer the 12-o’clock side to be one link longer to accommodate the wristbone, ensuring a more comfortable fit. Each segment has a rounded profile on the underside. Because of that, I have never dealt with sharp edges. The ergonomics are fine, though I do acknowledge the heft could feel heavier on small wrists or if you are used to lighter silicone bands. The big tradeoff is that the increased weight offers a sense of security and polish. It never feels flimsy, so I find it suitable as an all-day band that you could take to dinner or a casual office environment. If I were wearing the watch for a high-intensity workout, I would switch to my rubber Solo Loop, which is still an everyday favorite for sweatier activities, though this stainless steel band can handle moderate activity too.

Performance

The Link Bracelet performs exceptionally well in everyday use, combining style with function. Its weight, while noticeable, contributes to a reassuring sense of durability and luxury. I’ve found the bracelet comfortable during long hours at a desk and equally practical for casual outings. The smooth, rounded links glide effortlessly on the wrist without pinching or pulling hairs—a common issue with cheaper metal bands.

In terms of functionality, the bracelet stays securely in place once sized correctly. I’ve worn it through various activities and never felt it loosen or shift awkwardly. The butterfly clasp operates with satisfying precision, making it easy to put on or remove the band without fuss. The lack of a micro-adjustment option hasn’t been an issue for me, as the links themselves are small enough to provide a near-perfect fit. Once adjusted, the bracelet retains its size, even after multiple detachments and reattachments to the watch.

Durability is another strong point. The brushed stainless steel finish resists everyday scuffs better than mirrored surfaces, and any minor marks can usually be buffed out with a microfiber cloth. I’ve even noticed how well the bracelet adapts to different environments. Indoors, it maintains a subdued elegance, while outdoors, the polished edges catch the light beautifully, adding an extra dimension to its appearance.

For those concerned about the bracelet’s weight, it’s worth noting that while heavier than silicone or nylon bands, the Link Bracelet’s distribution ensures it doesn’t feel cumbersome. Instead, the weight adds a premium feel that’s hard to replicate with lighter materials. Overall, it’s a band that performs as impressively as it looks, making it a worthy addition to the Apple Watch lineup.

Sustainability

Sustainability is a growing factor in our tech choices, and the Link Bracelet demonstrates Apple’s efforts to reduce environmental impact through material selection. Stainless steel, a key component, is fully recyclable, aligning with Apple’s broader goals of using recycled metals across their products. The addition of titanium in the Slate colorway further highlights these efforts.

A metal band like the Link Bracelet, built to last for years, offers a more eco-conscious choice compared to disposable, lower-quality bands. Apple designed this accessory to endure, ensuring it remains compatible with new watch iterations without requiring replacement. This longevity makes it a sustainable alternative to frequently replacing bands with every upgrade cycle.

One could use their Link Bracelet for years, maintaining functionality despite minor patina on the underside—a natural mark of use. A quick wipe with a microfiber cloth can restore much of its original shine, reflecting its durability and thoughtful design.

Value

The Link Bracelet’s seamless integration with the Apple Watch is its standout feature. The stainless steel links align perfectly with the watch lugs, creating a cohesive and polished look. Unlike third-party bands that may leave gaps or appear mismatched, this bracelet feels intentionally designed as part of the watch.

In everyday use, the bracelet offers consistent comfort and dependability. The butterfly clasp is discreet and secure, maintaining the minimalist aesthetic while ensuring ease of use. Its brushed finish adds subtle elegance indoors, while polished edges catch the light outdoors, enhancing its refined appearance. Minor scuffs on the brushed steel can be addressed with a quick polish, keeping the bracelet looking sharp.

Apple’s premium pricing reflects the bracelet’s quality and compatibility. It continues to fit new Apple Watch generations, making it a reliable, long-term investment. Available in Natural, Slate, and Gold finishes, the design remains timeless and versatile. For those seeking a band that combines elegance with functionality, the Link Bracelet delivers practicality and style in equal measure.

There are some notable names in the watchmaking sphere that have a different take on the concept of timepieces with their larger-than-life dials. URWERK and MB&F particularly have this idea of watchmaking that distinguishes their watches from the others at the first gawk. What really is stuck with them are darker hues, but this one particular time, URWREK is actually making a detour from that overpowering love for black and gray-toned cases.

The Swiss watchmaker has unveiled the second iteration of its 230 series with the launch of this UR-230 Polaris, which in its white exuberating self, ventures on an unceasing quest to rethink the basics of the series’ design whilst preserving its aesthetics and strength. Following the success of the UR-230 Eagle constructed from a block of fiberglass-enhanced ceramic in white comes the UR-230 Polaris.

Designer: URWERK

The new white-colored model comes in a 44.81mm-sized ceramic-based composite case and brings a new perspective to URWERK’s interesting lineup. The radiant white encompassing an all-black UR-7.30 caliber movement gives the watch a nice panda effect. The dial is uniquely laid out with white numerals and satellite complication and it rests within a 53.55mm long and 18.38mm thick trapeze-shaped case elongating toward 6 o’clock.

The new UR-230 Polaris provides a very legible and unobstructed view of time in its futuristic design overpowered by a three-armed carousel with four-hour numerals. The current hour is prominently displayed on a semicircular section running along the watch base spanning 4 to 8 o’clock.

It is not only the façade marked by the white ceramic case that really stands out about the UR-230 Polaris, the watch is equally exciting on back reverse side as well. It features a contrasting black DLC titanium caseback and comes paired with a vulcanized rubber strap – again in a white hue with the black accent at the buckle. The UR-230 Polaris is strictly limited to only 35 examples that the interested can bag for 150,000 CHF (approximately $169,000).

Owning luxury cars is a, well, luxury, that can only be afforded by those who are privileged enough to have a lot of money to get one. The closest some of us will get to actually touching one may be at car expos or if our very rich neighbor or friend has one that they will let you touch or ride on it. If your dream is getting a Rolls-Royce, then there’s another option to make your dream sort of come true.

Designer: Rolls-Royce

The British luxury car manufacturer has released a miniature sculpture that you can build yourself to better understand why the car is priced the way it is. This DIY miniature called Cameo is made from the materials used in the actual production of the car. It is meant to be a collectible for fans of the brand or those that are aspiring to be an owner and they can make it their “vision car” to motivate them.

It uses solid oak for its body and adds a polished aluminum chassis which is like the two-tone finishes in most of the larger luxury cars. It is put together through magnetic connections that is quite similar to how they are able to create a unity between the body and drivetrain. The components are 3D-printed and has the iconic Arctic White leather material and the self-leveling wheel center caps that have the RR monogram.

Because this miniature will be assembled by your hand, it’s like you’re there in the assembly line at the Goodwood facility. There’s even a miniature driver to complete the picture, especially if you’re imagining you’re the one actually driving the luxury car.

Like any other piece of furniture, a chair can become more than a functional product. It can also be an art object or a statement piece that adds value to an area, elevating it from a drab room to a luxury space. Of course, it’s easier said than done, because exaggerated designs, no matter how luxurious, can also have the opposite effect.

One doesn’t need to go overboard with materials and details to create eye-catching furniture. Sometimes the simple fusion of two contrasting materials can already add points of interest, at least if they’re done in a tasteful way. This concept for a luxury office chair tries to apply that principle in a way that almost makes it look like wood is growing out of stone.

Designer: V R viru

While most designs call for complementary characteristics, contrast can sometimes work better in creating a more beautiful and more engaging compositions. Black and white, soft and hard, natural and artificial, these put two seemingly opposite properties together in a way that challenges not only the mind of the viewer but also the creativity of the designer. After all, it’s not trivial to combine two diametrically opposed things and still make them look like a unified product.

ZYVOR is a concept for a luxury chair that combines wood and marble, one known for its warmth while the other for its coolness. Although marble needs more processing than wood, both are considered natural or sustainable materials to some extent, even if they have different and contrasting personalities in people’s minds. Wood, after all, is sourced from a living thing while marble and stone are instead grafted and chiseled.

In addition to the contrasting sources, the forms of these two materials also seem to be juxtaposed, almost the opposite of their natural properties. The chair’s marble base starts out as a cylinder but then bends upward in an organic curve like the stem of a plant. The wooden seat, in contrast, is naturally curved but looks like it was carved out of a larger piece, almost like stone.

The end result of this combination of contrasting elements is a sophisticated chair design that feels like it sprouted and grew up in an organic and natural manner. Its elegant and slender design belies the stability it offers, thanks to the marble and wood wrapping around each other. It might look a little overkill for an office chair, but it definitely stands out as a premium piece that enhances the ambiance of any room it’s in.

Haute horologists have been targeting sleek and futuristic watches that innovate mechanics and complications without adding bulk. Belgium-based watchmaker Ressence watches is building on this image with added emphasis on minimalism – replacing conventional hands with series of smaller disks for an inventive take on the method of time-telling.

The company started in 2010 but is already making watches, unlike any other brand on the market. Case in point is the new limited-edition watch with a dial threaded using indigo-dyed silk fabric. It is made in collaboration with Swiss Art & Métiers artisans, who have weaved a spectrum of colors that like the rings of a tree depict the passing of time created through shades of electric blue to almost black tones at places.

Designer: Ressence

Ressence has selected its Type 8 model – the newest in its repertoire – for the indigo treatment. This 42.9mm grade 5 titanium case watch, launched in 2022, is the brand’s lightest model and measures only 11mm thick. The crownless timepiece is wound and set by turning the caseback that powers the solitary rotating minute hand while the smaller subdial reads the hours. Both orbit on the same plate while blue-glowing Super-LumiNova fills the engraved indications for legibility in all light conditions.

The Ressence Type 8 Indigo carries the same look, feel, and ethos of its worked-upon compatriot but distinguishes itself with the handmade métiers d’art dial woven with indigo-dyed silk thread measuring 2.5 meters in length and only 0.20 mm in diameter and the cutouts around the edges to lock in the thread. This is a strictly limited-edition watch, made in only eight examples, wherein the hypnotizing weaving has been carried out through precision handcrafting over two days on each timepiece.

Featuring a polished grade 5 titanium case and a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inside along the silk threaded dial, Ressence Type 8 Indigo is powered by Ressence ROCS 8 automatic ETA 2892/2 base calibre offering 36-hour power reserve. The watch comes paired to a Saffiano calfskin strap and is now available starting November 25 for CHF 25,000 (approximately $28,000).
