Speck Gemtones Infinity Hands-On at CES 2025: A Speaker + Infinity Mirror That Dazzles and Delivers

Speck’s latest speaker takes the term ‘trance music’ to another level. The only speaker with a built-in infinity mirror, the Gemtones from Speck is supposed to be a speaker that lets you get lost, both visually as well as lost in the music. The team at Speck jokingly refers to it as a “mullet speaker”—business in the front, party in the back. And honestly, the description fits. It’s a bookshelf speaker for your cozy afternoons and a party speaker when the lights go down and the energy ramps up.

This speaker doesn’t beg for attention in the way many party speakers do, which is kind of the point. With its soft gray finish and an earthy leatherette strap, the Gemtones Infinity fits naturally into a living room, blending in like it belongs there. But the mirrored front panel? That’s where things start getting interesting. While it reflects its surroundings in a way that helps it stay low-key in daylight, it doubles as a hidden canvas for an LED light show when the party starts. Flip the speaker into its “infinity” mode, and the lights behind the mirror come alive, bouncing between layers of glass for an otherworldly effect. It’s like your playlist unlocked a portal to another dimension.

Designer: Speck

Speck didn’t stop at cool visuals, either. They packed the Gemtones Infinity with plenty of functionality to back up the theatrics. The speaker comes in three sizes, so whether you’re outfitting a bedroom or filling a backyard, there’s an option for you. Each one is built with two active drivers and a passive radiator tucked into the back, giving the sound a satisfying punch. While the exact wattage wasn’t shared, you can expect this setup to deliver a solid, balanced performance that doesn’t lose its footing when the bass kicks in.

The infinity mirror is easily the icing on this cake. Mostly relegated to DIY craft projects or bachelor-pads, infinity mirrors are exceptionally cool, given how they look like portals into another world. The trick behind them is simple – a two-way mirror and a regular mirror are kept facing each other. Add lights between and they reflect almost endlessly, creating a tunnel or portal. By putting this on a Bluetooth speaker, Speck’s managed to create an audio device that doesn’t just sound incredible, it looks incredible too.

Thanks to True Wireless Stereo (TWS) tech, you can link two speakers of the same size for stereo sound. But if you’re feeling ambitious—or just really want to make an impression—you can pair up to 50 speakers in a mix-and-match setup. Imagine starting with a single speaker on a bookshelf, then adding satellites all over your house or yard. It’s a modular sound system with room to grow.

The companion app lets you work all the features. Not only can you toggle between six different LED light effects, but you also get access to six EQ presets to tweak the sound for whatever you’re listening to. Want bass-heavy EDM one minute and balanced acoustics the next? A few taps, and you’re there. For those who like to micromanage their audio setup, this is the kind of customization that goes a long way.

Battery life clocks in at a respectable 15 hours, which should keep things going long past bedtime. Whether it’s an all-day playlist or a late-night dance session, the Gemtones Infinity isn’t going to bail on you early. It’s practical enough to use every day, but it’s that ability to shift gears when needed that makes it feel special.

Speck has pulled off something clever with the Gemtones Infinity. It combines optical illusions, home decor, and audio into one package that instantly feels very different from anything you’ve seen. The speakers come in 3 sizes, priced starting at $79 going up to $129 for the largest. It’s the closest thing to owning a miniature disco, honestly. Audio, check, trippy lights, check, vibe check.

Future of Noise Cancellation at CES 2025: This AI-Powered Mic Headset Can Even Hear You Whisper

]]>

Picture yourself on a packed train during rush hour, a cacophony of announcements, chatter, and the low hum of the tracks surrounding you. You’re taking an urgent call. You lean in, whispering softly into your headset, barely audible to the person sitting inches away, yet your voice comes through crisp and clear on the other end. It might sound like noise-cancellation on steroids, but it’s possible thanks to an AI-powered headphone that lets you whisper entire conversations while the headphone does the rest, amplifying your voice.

Designer: Skyted

The magic here lies in how Skyted handles sound—yours and everyone else’s. It relies on a highly precise microphone array that can even hear whispers, along with an AI that helps enhance the. Yes, it sounds a bit sci-fi, but it’s surprisingly intuitive in practice. It uses an intelligent microphone built into the front that’s designed to capture even the slightest directional audio, along with a powerful AI algorithm that works hard to amplify your whisper while canceling out pretty much all kinds of external noise. What kind of cancellation are we talking about here? Well, I was in a noisy convention center and the wearer was whispering dialogues 2 feet away from me. I could hear every single word crystal clear.

The result? Privacy, even in the noisiest, most public places. Whether you’re whispering your side of a confidential work call or dictating notes for a project, no one around you will hear more than a faint murmur. And those on the other end of the line? They’ll think you’re calling from a library, even if you’re smack in the middle of a bustling airport terminal.

What really makes this device fascinating is how flexible it is. Skyted feels tailor-made for the remote worker who doesn’t want to be tethered to their home office or the podcaster tired of lugging around recording equipment. It’s also a game-changer for anyone who frequently takes calls in noisy environments—think salespeople, journalists, or even students navigating group projects in crowded cafés. And gamers, too, might finally find a headset that lets them coordinate their next big raid without worrying about leaking every background noise in their room. Heck, I can totally envision a phone with this technology too, so I don’t need to yell when I get a phone call in a noisy environment.

The headset looks unassuming until you actually try it out. I had the chance to demo a unit, with someone wearing it and whispering to me. Without the Skyted, I couldn’t hear a word of what he said. However, as soon as he switched the Skyted headset on, the microphone did a phenomenal job catching his audio and AI-enhancing it to make it crystal-clear. Skyted’s team said that the headphone was just step one, the next step is to build this tech into smartphones so that you can answer calls without people around you hearing what you’re saying.

The design looks admittedly retro, but i’s got a clean, streamlined vibe that is comfortable to wear and gets the job done. It’s lightweight and portable, which is crucial for something you’ll be tossing into your bag between meetings or after a long commute. It’s also designed to stay comfortable for long periods—a feature that’ll matter to anyone who spends hours on calls or gaming marathons.

Surprisingly, the tech has roots in aerospace technology. Developed with support from ONERA and Airbus Développement, it takes inspiration from systems built to handle the relentless noise and acoustics of aircraft cabins. That lineage shows up in how flawlessly it filters sound and isolates voices, even in settings that would make most headsets crumble. It’s the kind of crossover you don’t expect, like Bose, the audio company, also making suspension for vehicles. Or Yamaha, being equally good at making motorbikes and pianos.

Skyted is gearing up for a launch that aims to make this technology broadly available, with a $250 price tag on the headset. Considering its polished performance and the excitement it generated at CES, it feels like a strong contender to shake up the headset market – one that’s in desperate need for innovation.

LG Multifunctional 3-in-1 Projector is also a Mood Floor Lamp and a Speaker

]]>

Home projectors are becoming popular as more people not only cut the cord but also ditch large screens that take up space on their walls. But while laser projectors offer the flexibility of setting up your viewing experience on any flat surface, including your ceiling, they also have their fair share of obtrusive designs. The larger kind tends to stay at a fixed spot in the middle of the room, while ultra-short-throw or UST projectors require that you have a shelf next to a wall.

But what if the projector could be disguised as something you might already have inside a room? And what if it can serve some other function when it’s not in use as a projector? These musings might have been the impetus behind LG’s unusual yet also ingenious design, melding not just two but three functions in one, disguising a home projector as a lamp that sets the mood and an odd-looking wireless speaker, helping homeowners save space without looking out of place in your living space.

Designer: LG

To be fair, a home projector these days usually comes with a built-in speaker, so that 2-in-1 functionality might not sound that special. Then again, most of the time you can’t use that speaker independently without the projector, giving this combination of three devices in a single design a unique and unmatched value. Even better, that design blends seamlessly into your room’s decor, and you wouldn’t guess it to be anything other than a lamp until you start using its other functions.

The LG PF600U definitely looks like your typical floor lamp with a stand-pole design, albeit one with an unusual circle for its head. The lamp actually shines most of its light from the back, and it can show off nine colors in five different levels of brightness. That head, however, can be tilted at 110 degrees, allowing you to set the mood you want in the area you want.

The real surprise happens when you tilt that head up with its side facing forward, revealing the projector that hides within. With a resolution of 1920×1080 and a lamp with 300 ANSI lumens of brightness, the projector can theoretically perform well in a dark room. The cone that makes up the bulk of the head’s shape also houses the stereo speakers with passive radiators completing the trio, offering a versatile set of functions for whatever entertainment or mood you need.

Granted, combining all those functions into a single, space-efficient design might mean compromising on some performance, especially on the projector side. To satisfy more discerning consumers, LG is also launching what it claims to be the smallest 4K UST (ultra-short throw) projector that also minimizes its footprint and presence in your home. With a minimalist metallic finish, the LG CineBeam S (PU615U) also tries to blend with your decor, looking like a nondescript metal box sitting in the middle of your shelf.

I’m thrilled to head to CES 2025 in Las Vegas, where I’ll get to experience firsthand Hisense’s latest innovation—the new L9Q Series. The L9Q expands Hisense’s lineup with screen sizes ranging from 100 to 150 inches, making it adaptable to different environments. This model is designed to fit a range of setups, offering a size to suit any room. This flexibility is rare among Laser TVs, making it easier to find the right fit for your home.

Designer: Hisense

One of the L9Q’s key features is its TriChroma™ triple-laser light engine. This technology covers 110% of the BT.2020 color space, ensuring that the colors displayed are both accurate and vibrant. The brightness can reach up to 5,000 lumens, and with a contrast ratio of 5,000:1, the picture remains clear even in rooms with a lot of natural light. Whether you’re watching a movie or a live sports event, the visual quality is impressive.

The L9Q comes with Ambient Light Rejection (ALR) screens available in various sizes to match the TV options. These screens improve brightness and clarity regardless of the room’s lighting conditions. Additionally, the ability to switch between screen sizes using Auto Screen Alignment and Manual Keystone Correction makes setting up the TV much easier and more convenient.

Sound is another area where the L9Q excels. It features a 6.2.2 surround sound system, which is the first of its kind in a Laser TV. The design, inspired by Roman amphitheaters, includes a 15° tilted sound bin that works with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual X technologies to create a rich audio experience. From the sounds of an energetic crowd during a game to the subtle details in a movie soundtrack, the audio quality matches the high standards set by the visuals.

The design of the L9Q is elegant and modern. It includes a Black Walnut Décor Panel, Star Orbit Ambient Lighting, and brushed metal finishes. The slim profile and textured surfaces make it a stylish addition to any living space. Beyond its appearance, the L9Q is equipped with smart features like access to over 800 free live TV channels and more than 700,000 movies and shows through Google TV™. It also integrates with voice assistants such as Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Apple HomeKit, allowing for easy control using your voice.

Connectivity options are robust, including HDMI 2.1, Wi-Fi 6E, and NEXTGEN TV (ATSC 3.0), ensuring that the L9Q is compatible with the latest devices and future technologies. This makes it a versatile choice for anyone looking to upgrade their home entertainment setup.

At CES 2025, Hisense will also showcase the L9Q alongside an ultra-bright 2.9-gain screen, achieving 1500 nits of full-screen brightness—the first in the laser industry. This combination uses nano-scale light enhancement and aggregation technology to deliver exceptional visual clarity and brightness.

I’m particularly excited to meet with the Hisense team to see the L9Q in action. Experiencing how all these features come together in a live demo will provide valuable insights into the future of home entertainment technology. I’m really looking forward to the chance to test such an advanced Laser TV, as it will help me understand how these innovations can enhance the way we enjoy our favorite movies and shows at home.

If you’re attending CES 2025, I recommend stopping by Booth 16625 to check out Hisense’s new L9Q Series. It’s a great opportunity to see the latest in home entertainment technology up close and discover how it can improve your viewing experience. I’m eager to share my experiences from the event and discuss how the L9Q Series is set to change the way we watch and listen to our favorite content.

Stay tuned for more updates as CES 2025 approaches, and get ready to see some of the most exciting developments in consumer electronics this year.

Happy New Year! As we wrap up 2024, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the four devices that have truly been my lifelines this year. Without them, I’d be pretty much lost—unproductive, disconnected, and out of touch with the people who matter most. These gadgets are essential parts of my daily life, seamlessly integrating into everything I do. Let’s dive into why these devices are so pivotal for me.

Designer: Apple

iPhone 16 Pro Max: My Digital Swiss Army Knife

Let’s kick things off with the iPhone 16 Pro Max, my all-in-one companion. For most, it’s either Team iPhone or Team Android, but I’m fortunate enough to straddle both camps. My Samsung Galaxy Fold 6 handles the heavy lifting at work, seamlessly managing emails, spreadsheets, and endless meetings. Meanwhile, the iPhone is my ride-or-die personal device, the one I reach for first thing in the morning and last thing at night. It’s practically glued to my hand, a constant presence that keeps me connected no matter where I am. Even when it’s charging on the dock, I’m still tethered to it via iPhone mirroring on my MacBook, ensuring that nothing slips through the cracks.

Apple iPhone 16 Pro

Why It’s Core to My Life

iMessage is the digital glue holding my social circle together. With friends, family, colleagues, and PR contacts all wielding iPhones, it’s the no-brainer choice for staying in touch. When planning a spontaneous weekend getaway, managing work-related travel, sharing updates with my family, or brainstorming with colleagues, iMessage makes communication effortless and reliable. FaceTime is our go-to for check-ins, especially with my girls as they navigate their school days. Those virtual hugs and daily catch-ups keep our bond strong, even when physical distance tries to pull us apart.

The camera game on the iPhone has revolutionized how I capture moments. Gone are the days of lugging around a bulky camera for personal snapshots or professional-grade stills and videos. If I’m documenting a scenic hike, creating content for Yanko Design, or capturing candid family moments, the iPhone’s camera system delivers stunning results every time. The ease of switching between modes with the new Camera Control feature means I can adapt quickly to any situation, ensuring I never miss a shot.

Why the iPhone 16 Pro Max Matters to Me

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is a visual masterpiece with its 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. The crisp 2868 x 1320 pixels at 460 ppi make everything from photos to videos pop with incredible detail. ProMotion technology with adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz ensures scrolling, and animations are buttery smooth, which makes even mundane tasks like browsing social media or reading articles a delightful experience. The Always-On display keeps me updated with notifications and time without constantly waking the device, allowing me to stay informed at a glance.

Built with a titanium frame and the latest Ceramic Shield front, this phone is a tank. I’ve had my share of butterfingers moments—accidental drops, slips from my hand—but this device has survived them all without a scratch. The Natural Titanium color I have perfectly complements my style and draws attention with its blend of sophistication and rugged durability. If I’m navigating vibrant city streets or exploring remote landscapes, the iPhone 16 Pro Max stands up to the challenge.

Apple iPhone 16 Pro

Under the hood, the A18 Pro chipset is an absolute beast. With a 15% faster CPU and a 20% GPU boost compared to last year’s model, multitasking is a breeze. I can effortlessly switch between editing videos in CapCut, managing projects in Asana, and keeping up with my photography in Photos without any lag. High-end mobile gaming runs smoothly, providing a perfect escape during breaks. With storage options up to 1TB, I never worry about running out of space for my extensive photo library, videos, or myriad apps. This capacity also allows me to capture and store RAW photos, ensuring I preserve every detail of my work and memories.

Battery life is another area where the iPhone 16 Pro Max shines. I can go a full day of heavy use without breaking a sweat, whether traveling, working, or spending time with family. When I need to charge, the fast charging and wireless capabilities mean I’m never tethered to an outlet for long. Whether in a coffee shop waiting for inspiration to strike or at home winding down, my iPhone is always ready to keep up with my pace.

iOS 18 brings many new customization options and features that enhance my daily interactions. I’m particularly excited about the existing and upcoming Apple Intelligence capabilities, which make it feel like we’re on the cusp of a new era in smartphone interaction. To me, Apple Intelligence is pivotal for the company moving forward, but that’s another discussion. The software updates keep my device fresh and aligned with my evolving needs, from more intelligent notifications to enhanced privacy features.

In conclusion, the iPhone 16 Pro Max isn’t just a phone—it’s my personal assistant, creative tool, and window to the world. At $1,099, it’s not the cheapest option out there, but it’s worth every penny for what it brings to the table. Stay tuned for my next picks that round out my tech trifecta for 2024!

MacBook Air M3 15-inch & MacBook Pro M4 Pro 14-inch: Power Meets Portability

Next up are the MacBook Air M3 15-inch and its recently introduced cousin, the MacBook Pro M4 Pro 14-inch. These sleek, portable machines are Apple’s latest and greatest, packing a serious punch in stylish packages that have become indispensable in my daily routine.

MacBook Air M3 15-inch: The Big Screen Dream

The MacBook Air M3 15-inch is like the cool older sibling of the Air family. It strikes the perfect balance between portability and screen real estate, making you think, “Yeah, I could work on this all day.” If I’m drafting articles, editing images, or watching a movie during a long flight, the expansive 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display is a visual treat. With a native resolution of 2880 x 1864 pixels, 224 pixels per inch (PPI), and 500 nits of brightness, this screen delivers stunning clarity and vibrant colors. Supporting 1 billion colors, the wide color (P3) gamut and True Tone technology ensure every detail looks accurate and lifelike. The larger screen real estate compared to the 14-inch model provides more workspace while maintaining the same pixel density for crisp visuals across the entire display. It’s functional and versatile, allowing me to switch between multiple windows and applications without feeling cramped.

At 3.3 pounds, the MacBook Air M3 is still remarkably portable for a 15-inch device. It slides effortlessly into my backpack, ready to accompany me from working on articles in an airplane, catching up on emails at the airport, or sitting inside my Tesla while waiting for the kids at tennis practice. The lightweight design means I can carry it around all day without feeling burdened, making it the perfect companion for work and play.

Powered by the M3 chip with an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU, this MacBook handles everything from editing 4K videos to juggling 50 Chrome tabs without breaking a sweat. Working on a tight deadline or indulging in some creative brainstorming, the MacBook Air M3 ensures that my workflow remains smooth and uninterrupted. The impressive battery life claimed to be up to 18 hours, means I can go from sunrise to sunset without worrying about finding an outlet, keeping me productive and entertained throughout the day.

MacBook Pro M4 Pro 14-inch: The New Kid on the Block

This is a dream device with powerful specs and a compact design. The MacBook Pro M4 Pro 14-inch is perfect for any situation that demands peak performance and portability when I need serious performance in a portable package. The M4 Pro chip—featuring a 12-core CPU with eight performance cores and four efficiency cores, alongside a 16-core GPU—easily ensures that this MacBook can handle the most demanding tasks. From rendering complex 3D models to compiling code or streaming high-definition content, the MacBook Pro M4 Pro delivers speed and efficiency that keep up with my fast-paced lifestyle.

Despite its smaller 14-inch size, the display is nothing short of impressive. The new nano-texture coating enhances the Liquid Retina XDR display, significantly reducing glare and ensuring clarity in diverse lighting conditions. This feature transforms my workflow, whether I’m editing photos in my sunroom surrounded by windows, preparing reports inside my car during tennis practice, or fine-tuning visuals on an airplane. Supporting vibrant colors and deep blacks, the display’s ProMotion technology ensures every scroll and animation is buttery smooth, making it equally suited for productivity and entertainment. Its 120Hz refresh rate and anti-glare technology ensure that even under direct sunlight or harsh reflections, I can easily focus on the task at hand.

Apple has listened to the pros by adding three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, and an SD card slot, making connectivity a breeze. These ports are a game-changer for media mavens like me, allowing easy transfers of large files, seamless connections to external displays, and effortless integration with my other devices. Including HDMI and an SD card slot eliminates the need for multiple adapters, streamlining my workflow and making my setup more efficient.

Battery life on the MacBook Pro M4 Pro is another standout feature, offering up to 22 hours of video playback. In real-world terms, this means I can work, create, and entertain myself for nearly two full days without needing to recharge. Whether traveling for work or enjoying a weekend getaway, the MacBook Pro M4 Pro ensures that I stay connected and productive no matter where I am.

Why These Devices Define My Workflow

The MacBook Air M3 15-inch has become my reliable partner for tackling detailed work sessions and creative projects. Its lightweight design and expansive screen make it ideal for writing articles, editing visuals, or brainstorming new ideas. Meanwhile, the MacBook Pro M4 Pro 14-inch handles the heavy lifting, stepping in when I face tight deadlines or need to manage complex, multitasking assignments.

These devices help me get things done and transform how I work. They enhance my focus and enable me to bring my ideas to life seamlessly. Planning my next big article or taking a well-earned break with a movie, they integrate perfectly into my day-to-day activities. More than tools, these MacBooks are essential to how I create, connect, and stay productive every single day.

Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Series 10 Titanium: A New Era in Wearable Tech

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Series 10 Titanium represent Apple’s bold evolution in wearable technology. The Ultra 2 refines everything great about the original Ultra. Its 3000-nit display is bright enough to handle direct sunlight, perfect for outdoor adventures or early morning runs. The new S9 chip delivers faster performance, enabling smoother interactions and improved responsiveness. Features like the new double-tap gesture make controlling the watch intuitive, even during activities that keep my hands occupied.

Apple Watch Ultra 2 vs. Apple Watch Series 10 (Titanium) vs. Apple Watch Series 10 (Aluminum)

Battery life, extending up to 72 hours in low-power mode, is critical for my lifestyle. Whether I’m on extended trips, navigating back-to-back workdays, or ensuring fitness tracking continuity, it’s a feature I rely on without hesitation. Its rugged design and water resistance make it a dependable companion for adventures ranging from hiking to diving, ensuring it’s ready for anything.

The Series 10 Titanium shifts the focus toward elegance without sacrificing functionality. With a 10% thinner profile, it transforms the wearing experience, sitting comfortably on my wrist throughout workouts and formal events alike. While this reduction might seem minimal, it creates a noticeable difference in how naturally the watch rests, offering unparalleled comfort for extended wear.

Both models deliver Apple’s robust suite of health metrics, from heart rate monitoring to advanced sleep tracking, pivotal to maintaining my well-being. These tools allow me to balance a demanding schedule while keeping wellness goals in check. I depend on features like stress monitoring, temperature sensing, and tailored workout adjustments to stay informed and proactive about my health.

These watches have become essential in tracking the metrics that matter most to me, ensuring I stay connected to my health while managing a busy life. For a detailed breakdown of these devices and why they’re indispensable to my routine, I invite you to read my full review here on Yanko Design.

Apple’s decision to introduce the Ultra 2 and Series 10 Titanium instead of updating the original Ultra represents a strategic move to address diverse needs in the smartwatch market. The Ultra 2 pushes the limits with enhanced durability and advanced features, making it the ultimate outdoor companion for adventurers, athletes, and those who demand top-tier performance. Its brighter display, improved battery life, and cutting-edge technology ensure it performs seamlessly in the harshest conditions.

In contrast, the Series 10 Titanium balances style and functionality. Its 10% thinner design transforms the wearing experience, resting flatter on the wrist for enhanced comfort. While the thinner profile might seem minor, the difference is noticeable during high-intensity workouts or daily wear. With features like water depth and temperature sensing borrowed from the Ultra, it’s ideal for professionals who need a watch that transitions effortlessly between the gym, office, and beyond. The polished titanium finish adds durability and sophistication, ensuring it’s as versatile as it is elegant.

Both models cater to unique lifestyles but share a common strength: delivering advanced health metrics that are key to tracking fitness goals and overall well-being. These features are pivotal to my routine, whether I’m monitoring activity levels, managing stress, or planning a healthier lifestyle. I invite you to read my full review here on Yanko Design for a detailed breakdown of these devices and why they matter.

Apple AirPods Pro 2: The Soundtrack to My Life

Last but certainly not least, let’s talk about the Apple AirPods Pro 2. These wireless earbuds are an essential tech accessory—they’re my constant companion at work, during travel, and even in moments of downtime. With low to mild hearing loss and tinnitus, the AirPods Pro 2’s groundbreaking over-the-counter hearing aid features alone are enough reason for me to have a couple of sets on hand. They’ve become integral to my daily routine, enhancing every moment with exceptional sound quality and seamless functionality. They’re so important to me that I actually own three pairs: two AirPods Pro 2 and the new AirPods 4 ANC, ensuring I’m always prepared for any situation.

AirPods Pro 2 vs AirPods 4 + ANC

The AirPods Pro 2 comes equipped with a custom high-excursion Apple driver and a custom high-dynamic range amplifier, delivering crisp, high-definition sound that makes my favorite tunes sound better than ever. Jamming out while mowing the lawn, immersing myself in a podcast during a long drive, or catching every word of dialogue on a flight—these buds provide an unparalleled audio experience. The rich, detailed soundscape they create makes every listening session enjoyable, no matter where I am or what I’m doing.

Noisy plane engines or busy city streets used to be distractions. The AirPods Pro 2 features pro-level active noise cancellation, up to 2x quieter than its predecessor. This makes flights more peaceful, commutes less stressful, and work-from-home days free from interruptions. The Adaptive Transparency mode seamlessly adjusts to let in important sounds, whether I’m waiting for announcements at the airport or walking through the neighborhood.

Long days or extended trips are no match for the AirPods Pro 2. They offer up to 6 hours of listening time on a single charge and up to 30 hours total with the charging case. If I’m in a pinch, just 5 minutes of charging provides an hour of use—a lifesaver during busy schedules or when I forget to charge them overnight.

The touch controls are intuitive and make everyday tasks effortless. Adjusting the volume with a quick swipe or switching between modes with a press feels natural. The “Hey Siri” functionality is a bonus for hands-free tasks, whether I’m working in the kitchen, carrying luggage, or multitasking at my desk. They’re tools that adapt to how I live and work, ensuring I stay focused and productive.

Four ear tip sizes (including XS) ensure a perfect fit for hours of comfort, whether I’m on a domestic flight or tackling a long day of meetings. Built with sweat and water resistance (IPX4 rated), these earbuds handle everything from workouts to sudden rain showers without missing a beat.

Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 have introduced groundbreaking hearing health features, transforming them into a comprehensive hearing assistance device.

The AirPods Pro 2 now offers a clinical-grade hearing aid feature designed for those with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. After completing a clinically validated hearing test, they personalize the listening experience by boosting specific sounds like speech or environmental elements. This real-time adjustment includes fine-tuning settings such as amplification, balance, and tone. These features make them effective across various environments, whether at home, in a bustling city, or during a meeting.

The hearing test itself is quick, taking about 5 minutes to complete. It uses pure-tone audiometry to play a series of tones at different frequencies and volumes. The results are comparable to professional audiograms, offering a reliable way to assess hearing health from home.

In addition to aiding hearing, the AirPods Pro 2 incorporate active Hearing Protection, shielding users from exposure to potentially harmful noise levels. Whether commuting, working in loud environments, or simply enjoying outdoor activities, this feature minimizes risks while maintaining the clarity and dynamic range of audio.

The integration with the Apple ecosystem further enhances usability. Setting adjustments are seamless across iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and quick access is provided through the Control Center and the Health app for tracking and managing hearing test results.

These features, combined with advanced customization options like Conversation Boost and ambient noise reduction, make the AirPods Pro 2 indispensable for me. Whether I’m monitoring health metrics, managing tinnitus, or enjoying crystal-clear audio on the go, these earbuds are a testament to Apple’s commitment to accessibility and innovation.

The AirPods Pro 2 is like having a personal sound engineer, hearing aid, and battery wizard packed into a compact design. Whether tackling a to-do list, jetting off to new destinations, or enjoying quiet moments at home, they keep me connected, comfortable, and immersed in exceptional sound. They’re indispensable to my life and work.

Speakers started out with rather boxy designs that were meant to be more efficient than elegant. This situation has changed over the years, thanks to developments in technology and manufacturing that left a bit of wiggle room for the critical components that make up these pieces of audio equipment. Some home speakers even come in the form of art objects that inject a bit of elegance and sophistication into the room.

That’s not to say that angular, geometric shapes are unappealing, especially if they can be tweaked and embellished with a few details that take them beyond their polygonal appearance. This set of speakers, for example, mash together nature and architecture in a design that makes them look like imposing yet striking rocks. If rocks came from outer space, that is.

Although a monolith technically refers to a geological feature, the word has also taken a different meaning throughout history and culture. On the one hand, you have monolithic man-made structures like obelisks dating as far back as Ancient Egypt. On the other hand, you also have fictional objects like the iconic black monolith from Arthur C. Clarke’s Space Odyssey science fiction series. It is a word that inspires both awe and creativity, combining both natural formations and artificial creations in a single thought.

Those are the kinds of emotions that this Monolith speaker concept design tries to convey. On the one hand, they resemble large boulders naturally rising from the floor of your living room. On the other hand, their sharp angles and clean lines clearly convey an artificial nature, keeping their technological roots clear and unambiguous. The dark motif, paired with a few discreet light indicators, also gives it a sci-fi vibe, as if the speakers were miniature spacecraft from an advanced alien civilization.

There are also a few subtle details that give the Monolith speakers some added charm. The front and the back of the speakers use triangular grilles to visually set themselves apart from typical perforations, but the front also utilizes a transparent fabric to make that pattern less conspicuous and distracting. Physical buttons lie on top of the speakers to control volume and power, while the rest of the connectors and switches are conveniently hidden on their backs.

It’s possible to connect all three speakers of the set using cables, creating the semblance of a starship fleet ready for take-off, or they can be distributed across the area and communicate over Bluetooth instead. The Monolith speaker concept doesn’t drastically change the design formula but combines inspiration from nature with technical sensibilities to deliver a more striking aesthetic that doesn’t compromise on space efficiency for the components inside.

Every CES or consumer electronics show is brimming with ambitious ideas that claim to change everything, yet most of them fade away before fulfilling even a fraction of their bold promises. Occasionally, however, a product emerges that reignites excitement and curiosity.

Breggz has introduced the Zohn-1, a set of custom-fit earphones that has captured my attention in a meaningful way. Described as a harmonious blend of modern design, advanced materials, and meticulous hand assembly, the Zohn-1 sets high expectations. The brand promises remarkable audio fidelity paired with a personalized experience—a combination few hearables have achieved.

Designer: Xander + Breggz

The Importance of Custom Fit: Personalized Comfort and Performance

Custom fitting does more than provide comfort or stability—it revolutionizes audio performance. When the Zohn-1 is precisely tailored to your ear’s unique contours, acoustic leaks are eliminated, enhancing bass response and delivering crystal-clear sound clarity.

Balanced armature drivers, carefully positioned closer to the eardrum, amplify immersion by creating a direct sound path. This design enhances audio richness and allows for lower volume levels to achieve the same perceived loudness, reducing strain on your ears over time. By combining these elements, custom fitting becomes a critical factor in both audio quality and long-term ear health.

The ear-scanning technology used in the Zohn-1 enables precise placement of the balanced armature drivers, which is key to achieving superior audio quality. During my chat with Breggz founder Xander, he revealed that they have incorporated a hearing test into the app. This test identifies missing frequencies in the user’s hearing, particularly in the high and low ends, and compensates for them through tailored sound adjustments. This thoughtful addition ensures a richer and more balanced listening experience, making the Zohn-1 highly personalized for each user.

The scanning process transmits data to specialized companies that convert the visual information into 3D-printable files. These files are used to create a custom-shaped earphone shell, perfectly aligning with the unique contours of the user’s ears. This precise fit enhances comfort and significantly improves audio isolation and performance, creating a listening experience tailored to individual needs.

Revolutionary Product Concept: Modular Approach Featuring the “Pebble”

The product design centers around the innovative combination of custom ear shells and a small, interchangeable module known as the pebble. This module supports modularity and significantly enhances the user experience by housing critical electronics in a compact, replaceable unit.

The pebble ensures that components can be easily upgraded or repaired, providing convenience while maintaining seamless integration with the custom-fit ear shells. Its design also allows for personalization, with options for different materials and finishes, enhancing its appeal as a stylish accessory.

Beyond aesthetics, the pebble holds most of the electronics and clicks securely into the personalized shells. This thoughtful design creates a handcrafted, ergonomic piece that fits snugly and rests in the ear with minimal pressure. By adopting this approach, Breggz achieves scalable production of the universal core while delivering a bespoke fit for each user.

Comparing to My Current Setup: JH Audio 16

My current setup is the JH Audio 16, which has long been regarded as a gold standard for audiophiles. Its sound quality is undeniably exceptional, with detailed highs, balanced mids, and a dynamic bass range that few products can rival. However, the Bluetooth ear module that pairs with the JH Audio 16 leaves much to be desired.

The module is bulky and awkward, making it uncomfortable for extended use. Its design feels like an afterthought, lacking aesthetic appeal and cohesiveness with the rest of the product. Additionally, the module’s high price point detracts from its overall value, despite the stellar sound quality of the JH Audio 16.

The Zohn-1 promises to address these shortcomings through its integrated design and advanced features. By offering a modular approach with the pebble and focusing on comfort, aesthetics, and functionality, Breggz aims to deliver a more cohesive and user-friendly experience without compromising on audio fidelity.

Battery Life and Charging Features

Breggz has designed the Zohn-1 with an impressive battery life of eight hours, making it suitable for a full day of listening. This functionality is further enhanced by a stylish charging case that adds to its practicality and serves as a piece of functional art. The case extends the total playtime to 40 hours before needing a recharge, making it ideal for long flights or weekend getaways.

The charging case itself is a key component of the Zohn-1 experience. Featuring a gull-wing door system—a nod to upscale automotive design—it balances visual appeal with practicality, enhancing its functionality as a premium accessory. Beyond its style, the case can recharge the Zohn-1 up to five times, eliminating the need for frequent access to a power outlet. This functionality is particularly beneficial for users who often find themselves on the move.

Additionally, the Zohn-1 supports a rapid charge function, allowing the battery to refill to 50% capacity in just five to ten minutes. This quick boost reduces the stress of forgetting to charge overnight, ensuring the earphones are ready to go with minimal downtime. Together, these features emphasize both convenience and thoughtful design, making the Zohn-1 a reliable companion for any lifestyle.

Unboxing and Accessories

Unboxing the Zohn-1 is an experience that emphasizes both personalization and aesthetic appeal. At the heart of the package are the custom-shaped earphones, designed to attach seamlessly to the balanced armature drivers. These earphones are crafted to fit uniquely to each user, reinforcing the tailored approach Breggz has taken with this product.

Surprisingly, the package also includes a set of five silicone ear tips. While this might seem unusual for a custom-fit device, these tips are included to refine the fit further for those who may need subtle adjustments. They help seal small gaps or add extra comfort, ensuring that every user achieves a snug and optimal fit right out of the box.

The charging case stands out as a highlight. Featuring a gull-wing door system, it combines design flair with functionality. This case supports both USB-C and induction charging, providing up to 40 hours of additional playtime. Its thoughtful design complements the premium positioning of the Zohn-1.

To complete the unboxing, Breggz includes a proprietary cleaning kit and a leather carrying case. These accessories underline the brand’s commitment to quality and practicality, offering users a stylish and protective way to maintain and transport their earphones.

Sustainability and Materials

The sustainability story is a big part of Breggz’s approach, even though it exists underneath the flashier features. By constructing the earpieces through an on-demand 3D printing pipeline, the company avoids wasting materials on unsold stock. Breggz has pointed out that glue-free assembly makes recycling more straightforward, and the shell and pebble design could theoretically be taken apart for future upgrades. This is meant to reduce the electronic waste that builds up when entire devices are discarded every year. The extended battery life and ability to replace or repair smaller components reinforce that direction. Breggz is pushing the notion that luxury and eco-friendliness can coexist, which could set them apart if they manage to turn these broad claims into everyday reality.

The materials used in this design reflect a premium direction, with an emphasis on sustainability and luxury. Breggz has revealed that the Zohn-1 meets CE and FCC standards for safety and performance. The shell is 3D-printed to order, and there is potential for those who want to go all out with metals such as gold. The pebble itself gets a leather covering that can be swapped with other textures or colors, turning the functional electronics into something that can be personalized for style.

Anticipating the Breggz Zohn-1 Experience

In my discussion with the Breggz founder, Xander, he highlighted the unique combination of advanced personalization, modular design, and sustainability at the core of this product. The custom ear-scanning process, which eliminates the need for audiologists, and the 3D-printed shells tailored to each individual user are just the beginning. Features like the interchangeable “pebble,” high-quality, balanced armature drivers, and eco-conscious materials reflect the thoughtful design philosophy behind the Zohn-1.

I am eagerly waiting to test the Zohn-1 and discover whether it truly lives up to its promise. By maintaining a consistent focus on easy assembly, upgradable electronics, and 3D-printed customization, Breggz has already distinguished itself from the chorus of wireless earbuds at CES. If this product delivers as envisioned, it could redefine what consumers expect from personalized audio technology.

Design and Aesthetics

Huawei’s FreeBuds Pro 4 comes into a world already saturated by wireless earbuds that promise comfort, clarity, and a stylish form. The design language of these Huawei earbuds should not be ignored, especially considering how many brands forget that we wear these devices as part of our personal style. This isn’t a gaudy attempt at jewelry. Instead, its understated style enhances its appeal, allowing it to complement a wide range of personal aesthetics while remaining functional. The minimalist design ensures that the earbuds feel professional for work calls yet casual enough for everyday use, making them versatile for any scenario.

Huawei FreeBuds Pro 4

The FreeBuds Pro 4 comes across more like a finely tuned instrument. The materials and finishing radiate a subtle sense of care rather than flamboyance. They feel confident in their presence. While certain earlier earbud models from various brands have been plagued by slippery finishes or cheap-feeling plastic, Huawei took time to produce something that can actually withstand everyday handling without showing scratches the moment you toss them into a bag. I respect that.

The subtle branding and finishing details don’t scream for attention, but if you pay attention, you notice the layers of careful craftsmanship. These are refined enough that you can hold them and sense the design decisions that Huawei made. They are small objects that serve multiple roles in a modern lifestyle. Whether it’s transitioning seamlessly from a high-stakes business call to an evening of relaxing music, these earbuds adapt effortlessly. They feel purposeful, combining functional elegance with durability—offering a sense of reliability that makes you proud to use them daily, not as just another disposable gadget.

Ergonomics

The fit inside my ears is stable and comfortable, thoughtfully crafted to accommodate a wide range of ear shapes. I wore them for hours on end during my flight from Dubai to Dallas, and they remained incredibly comfortable—a testament to Huawei’s ergonomic design. The memory foam ear tips adapt naturally to the ear canal, creating a secure yet unobtrusive seal that minimizes sound leakage while enhancing comfort. This seal plays a vital role in reducing ambient noise, allowing me to immerse myself in music or focus on work without interruption.

One of the FreeBuds Pro 4’s most impressive aspects is its lightweight construction. Even after prolonged use, I didn’t feel any strain or pressure on my ears, a crucial feature for long-haul travelers or those wearing them throughout the day. The thoughtful balance of form and function ensures these earbuds feel natural as an extension of your daily routine.

The design also fosters a sense of acoustic balance. Whether I was navigating through a bustling airport terminal or seated in a noisy cabin, the FreeBuds Pro 4 delivered a consistent sense of calm. The combination of comfort, practicality, and noise isolation creates an experience that feels uniquely tailored to real-world challenges, making these earbuds more than just another gadget in your bag.

Performance

The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 4 offers a variety of noise control modes that adapt to your environment and personal preferences, enhancing the overall listening experience. The Noise Canceling mode, set to “Ultra,” excels in eliminating background distractions such as bustling terminals or airplane cabins. During my flight from Dubai to Dallas, switching to this mode drowned out the low rumble of the engines and even softened the sharp cries of a nearby baby, making it far easier to focus on music or relax.

The Awareness mode is equally practical for situations where you need to stay alert. While waiting for boarding announcements at the airport, I switched to this mode and appreciated how it amplified surrounding sounds just enough to keep me connected to my environment without removing the clarity of my audio.

For moments when no active noise cancellation is needed, the Off mode provides a more neutral experience, preserving battery life while still offering the same high-quality audio playback. These modes illustrate Huawei’s thoughtful approach to real-world usability. Moving seamlessly between a quiet office, a busy public space, or even transitioning from one to the other, the earbuds adapt without skipping a beat.

What I love most about these transitions is the audible notification that accompanies each mode switch. It’s a simple yet thoughtful addition that ensures I know exactly which setting I’ve selected without needing to glance at the app. This level of intuitive design is rare and makes a noticeable difference in seamless usability.

Through its high-end specifications, the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 4 offers a refined listening experience. At the heart of its design is the Dual-driver True Sound system combined with retuned Digital Cross-Over technology. This configuration allows precise handling of individual frequency ranges, offering clarity and depth for every track. Supporting this is the powerful 11mm Quad-Magnet Dynamic Driver Unit, ensuring rich and distortion-free sound across different genres.

To enhance the audio quality further, Huawei’s proprietary Bluetooth L2HC 4.0 codec enables high-resolution audio transmission at up to 24-bit/48kHz with an impressive 2.3 Mbps speed. These features ensure that music playback remains immersive and true to its original quality, from soft instrumentals to dynamic, bass-heavy tracks.

Using the EQ presets provided in the app, I tested various music genres that align with my preferences.

 • Bass Boost: I turned on “Bass Boost” for tracks like Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now and Calvin Harris’s Slide. The low-end frequencies gained a deep, rich punch without overpowering the vocals or the treble. The bass remains tight and controlled, adding energy to upbeat tracks.
 • Treble Boost: For acoustic recordings, I switched to “Treble Boost” while listening to John Mayer’s Neon and Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide. The clarity of the plucked strings came through vividly, giving these tracks a lifelike quality that felt intimate and warm.
 • Voices: For podcasts and vocal-heavy tracks like Adele’s Hello or Sam Smith’s Stay With Me, the “Voices” setting isolated the mids perfectly, making every word and note resonate with clarity. Even during noisy environments, the emphasis on vocal frequencies ensured nothing got lost.
 • Hi-Fi Live: Playing Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody in “Hi-Fi Live” mode captured the dynamic shifts in the song beautifully. The balance between the intricate layering of vocals and instruments felt almost like being present at a live performance.
 • Classical: While listening to Yo-Yo Ma’s performance of Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1, the “Classical” preset highlighted the warmth and depth of the cello, enhancing every bow stroke’s detail and emotion.

Sitting next to a screaming infant on an airplane prior to takeoff, I placed a call to a colleague. The sharp, piercing cries of the baby, alternating between high-pitched wails and desperate sobs, created an environment that felt chaotic and overwhelming. The FreeBuds Pro 4, equipped with advanced bone-conduction VPU microphone technology and an AI noise reduction algorithm, dulled the high-pitched wails to a manageable hum. This ensured my conversation remained uninterrupted. On the other end of the line, my colleague heard my voice with alarming clarity, reporting that the background noise was virtually eliminated. Even in a breezy outdoor space, the wind did not translate into overwhelming mic distortion. Thanks to this technology, the other side of the line received a well-isolated version of my voice. Meetings, calls, and interviews can proceed naturally, even in less-than-ideal conditions.

Each preset feels tailored to amplify the strengths of specific genres without resorting to over-processing. The Dual-driver True Sound system works with the Digital Cross-Over technology to provide a clean, distortion-free experience. When playing back lossless audio files at 24-bit/48kHz, as in Fleet Foxes’ Helplessness Blues, the earbuds reveal an extra layer of tonal richness that’s absent in most competing earbuds.

The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 4 pushes a real sense of precision in their sound. I know these are not pro-audio-grade studio monitors, but they do not need to be. Instead, they strike a healthy balance between detail and warmth.

Value and Conclusion

In my ongoing evaluation of audio gear, I place a heavy emphasis on how something works in daily life. Specs, brand names, and press releases can only tell a fraction of the story. The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 4 shows the company understands what it means to integrate seamlessly into a user’s world. For example, when moving from a video call on my laptop to playing music on my phone, the Dual Device Connection feature ensures a smooth transition without the need for manual pairing. This functionality, combined with wear detection that pauses and resumes audio automatically, makes the earbuds feel intuitive and effortless to use.

The clarity of call quality, the stable performance in streaming high-fidelity audio, and the robust battery life stand out more strongly than any marketing buzz. The brand’s focus on noise cancellation that actually works in varied environments shows care and attention to real-world challenges. The comfort of memory foam ear tips that reduce sound leakage stands out as well. This new Huawei model demonstrates that the company took real-world obstacles into account, from wind noise to inconsistent network conditions.

The underlying message from Huawei’s FreeBuds Pro 4 is that refinement and practicality don’t have to sit on opposite ends of the spectrum. High-resolution audio retains its crispness without compromising stable connectivity. The design combines comfort with individuality, avoiding the generic aesthetic that fades into the background. Noise cancellation handles unpredictable environments effectively, not limiting itself to quiet offices. Smart features are thoughtfully implemented to enhance workflows without coming across as gimmicks.

All these elements come together in these earbuds and reflect an approach that respects the user’s real-world context. After thorough use, I am impressed with how consistently well these earbuds handle everyday challenges. The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 4 is far more than a spec sheet or a flashy launch event. They’re a step toward making wireless earbuds fit into our lives as effortlessly as possible, blending balanced sound reproduction, stable calls, and comfortable ergonomics in a way that rewards those who actually pay attention to what matters.

Hisense is set to redefine home theater audio in 2025 with its new sound system designed to make great sound feel effortless. The Hisense HT Saturn offers a bold promise of fully wireless surround with a 4.1.2 channel audio system, delivering cinematic sound without the hassle that plagued older setups. It transforms the usual nest of cables into a sleek environment, allowing four individual wireless satellite speakers and a standalone 6.5-inch subwoofer to settle comfortably wherever the room’s personality leads. The company’s engineers believe it’s time to give home audio the freedom it deserves. As Hisense describes it, “Everything sounds like it’s a perfectly balanced home theater audio system.”

Designer: Hisense

Hisense’s approach draws attention to how people actually live. The HT Saturn listens to the room before it does anything else, using a small dongle that connects to the TV and emits a precise calibration tone. This tone interacts with the room’s surfaces, furniture, and layout, allowing the system to analyze sound reflections and distances. Based on this data, the system automatically adjusts each speaker and subwoofer to deliver balanced audio tailored to the unique acoustics of the space.

A Home Theater Built for Big Screens

The HT Saturn sets a new standard in audio performance. It was purpose-built to complement Hisense TVs 85 inches and larger. Featuring Pure Surround Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, it surrounds users with multidimensional soundscapes, ensuring every audio detail is delivered with precision and creating a fully immersive experience. Whether you’re watching a blockbuster or gaming with friends, the system captures every detail with precision, enhancing the emotional impact of every scene.

The company seems intent on proving that there is more to a satisfying experience than numbers on a spec sheet. The HT Saturn distinguishes itself acoustically by pairing premium sound quality with intuitive features that simplify its use, from its automatic calibration to its seamless integration with TV speakers. This seamless collaboration is powered by Hisense’s proprietary Hi-Concerto Technology, which synchronizes the HT Saturn with the TV’s built-in speakers to deliver an expanded and immersive audio field.

Another subtle touch is the single remote approach, which simplifies daily interactions by replacing the need for multiple remotes. This integration ensures that users can control the HT Saturn and TV seamlessly, avoiding the clutter and confusion often associated with multi-remote setups. Everything is integrated, even the onscreen menus. The company’s representatives made it clear that the HT Saturn is less about forcing people to understand complex settings and more about putting them at ease from day one. The inclusion of EZ Play ensures direct control via the Hisense remote, further simplifying the user experience.

Hisense’s forward-thinking design choices extend to the system’s use of advanced connectivity options and seamless integration with evolving home entertainment setups. The HT Saturn fully utilizes advanced connectivity options like HDMI eARC and Bluetooth 5.3, enhancing the user experience by ensuring high-quality audio transmission, seamless device pairing, and broad compatibility with evolving television technologies. The system also includes five tailored EQ modes, optimizing sound for movies, music, sports, and more to suit user preferences.

Tailored Sound Modes for Every Occasion

One of the HT Saturn’s defining acoustic qualities is its ability to adapt. The system’s ability to compensate for unconventional speaker placement ensures “tremendous flexibility” while delivering uncompromised sound. Wherever you’re seated—directly in front of the screen or off to the side—the HT Saturn fine-tunes its output to ensure every spot feels optimal.

While final pricing and release details remain unannounced, Hisense plans to showcase the HT Saturn at CES 2025, where attendees can experience its innovative wireless capabilities and immersive sound performance firsthand. I’ll be at CES to explore Hisense’s innovations in depth, focusing on HT Saturn’s wireless flexibility, acoustic calibration, and overall user experience. I’m eager to test how it performs in a live environment and will share those insights with you.

Initial observations suggest that this wireless sound system, with its 13-speaker system and tailored sound modes, might redefine expectations regarding installation and comfort.

It’s a given fact that a lot of musicians are pretty stylish. Sure they have their actual stylists and designers or their style may not be to everyone’s taste but they sure know how to rock a dress or design their apartment. So it’s no surprise that a lot of these celebrities have their own fashion line. Some have even gone so far as to come up with a lifestyle brand all their own.

Designer: Homemade (A$ap Rocky)

A$ap Rocky first launched his creative design studio in 2022 and for this year’s Design Miami, he unveiled his Galaxy collection which is described as a “deeper look into what a surreal retro-futuristic lifestyle would look like from the POV of a Satellite.” This retro-futuristic collection was created in collaboration with Italian manufacturer Gufram who was also their partner in their previous design collaboration.

The centerpiece of this collection is the CBNT.V1, a speaker cabinet that has massive speakers and some retro elements like vintage controls, VHS and cassette tape imagery but with supposedly futuristic elements. There’s also cushions with skyscraper imagery and a projector lamp that looks like a satellite. There’s also a 300 cm x 300 cm carpet that has three-dimensional New York City high rise buildings on it.

Even though it’s described as retro-futuristic, there isn’t much futuristic about it although retro is pretty much present. But in case this design aesthetic is your thing, you can already purchase any of the items by emailing them as there is no website to purchase these items.
